Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

there will always be a job somewhere you will just have to go find it. and most of the smaller companys i worked for ended up being better jobs than the larger ones. i prefer the smaller ones as long as they get the miles and have benifits. you just have to knock on doors and fill out apps.

You will still be able to get a driving job with your felonys you just have to work harder to find a job. No matter what a retired dot officer tells you. Averitt express and paschall trucklines don't even check your criminal history I know that for a fact. They both hire noobs.
I have never had a problem finding a job as long as you keep your mvr clean and do NOT job hop. Keep your head up and it will work out. Think hard about going to school with out a pre hire tho. It took me 3 months to find my first job but I have been driving since 2001. Out of your own pocket is risky unless you just have that money to spend. Good luck -
I got a job with Carolina Cargo and they don't pay real good but right now they got the freight and the runs from the east coast to the west coast so i will get to see my family, the only bad thing is they slip seat, and you lose the truck when you take time off and i live in Cali and work in South Carolina but thats all good whatever gets my foot in the door
PharmPhail Thanks this. -
Congrats on the job Pjody. That's the company I was recommending for people with records, but so far you've been the only one they've taken from the board.

Old thread, but relevant. I have an old felony, but it has been expunged. TSA says on their website that if it's over 7 years it's not a disqual, so I can get my hazmat. I'm pretty sure that companies can't see past the expungement, but I'm curious as to exactly what they DO see....any help out there?
-
yea i have a public intoxication 8-10 yrs old and cant get hired with a bad work history
-
me too what do they really see i havent been in trouble in 8 or 10 yrs i was self employed for most of my life with no record of it that hurt my chances of employment pretty darn good.
-

lol so no one with a felony drives a truck? i have delivered mail, delivered to prisons, hell i delivered to the prison i was incarcerated in. i have delivered to the federal reserve bank in Chicago. 15 or so military bases. a few facilities where i wasn't allowed out of the truck while i had armed guards watching me. i have delivered to Windsor mold in Windsor Ontario Canada more times than i can remember all with felonies. i had a passport as well BUT child support took care of the passport. i paid out of pocket for my school. the school even said they couldn't find me a job. i told them to train me and don't worry about what im doing. i had a job with in a month of getting out of school. and have pretty much held a job ever since. my job hopping has hurt me more than my felonies. i have heard well i see you have several felonies in so and so year. no problem there but 3 jobs in the past 3 years now theres a problem.
i have a hazmat and a twic card right now. i have been told that felons cant get that either. i guess i got lucky? one last thing and ill shut up. lol you would be surprised at the companys that check your dac and dont pull the criminal part.
YES THIS IS OLD BUT RELEVANT THAT AND I DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE DATE FOR SOME REASON
