isn't xpo similar with p and d and linehaul? i thought most of the ltl's have it seperate into those 2 groups.

No, XPO run’s a single seniority board, and a flex board. Your hire date is your seniority date, for bidding purposes, you will go to flex, when you first hire on.
At ABF your hire date is your seniority date for vacation and raises. Depending on if you hired for city or road board you will be placed at the bottom of the respective board.
If I am hired for the road board and it is a 10 man board and I stay on that board for a period of time and move to 5 of 10 in seniority, but decide to move to the city board cause I’m tired of driving all the time, I would move to the bottom of the city board. I would not move to position 5 on the city board.
At XPO you would not have that issue, you can move from linehaul to city with out losing your seniority for bidding purposes.

I was just going to ask that question but you answered it, yep that's how they ran it about 20 years ago when it was Conway, I was with CWX, but same thing, they had a extraboard that everybody started on, after enough seniority you could bid either a city p&d route or a linerun for a year, there was also what they called city flex, usually only three or four positions available for it, basically these were drivers who always started the morning on inbound dock, but then would run a extra p&d route or a day run depending on what the freight dictated that day.

That’s one good thing about XPO.

Pretty sure that’s the leading factor that made @HiramKingWilliams quit. Nothing like suddenly getting kicked off your daytime city P&D route for an overnight linehaul run with more dock work than driving. At least with two boards you know what you’re getting into.

Exactly. It just means there’s twice and many Drivers that could bump you.

For me training consisted of days of intense computer training, 2 weeks of dock training, double set ups, etc then we were put on City P&D even though we were hired for line haul. The rest of what HiramKingWilliams was applicable at my location. Definitely much more dock work than driving.

Fedex smaller ??? Fedex Buffalo changed the pay again. No more tiered wages. New hires start at current top pay $30.33 a hour. OT after 8. Could of easily jumped over to the linehaul board in short order if interested. FXF does way more business than XPO fyi

Sounds horrible! They are always hiring by me and their terminal is only 5 miles from my house. Would love 10 minute commute but I keep hearing all these issues from everyone.
