I'm specing a new truck and thought I would want a factory exterior sunvisor but then I thought it might not be the best idea for aerodyamics or wind noise. I noticed very few of the new cascadia's I see on the road have them. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Exterior sun visor on a new Freightliner Cascadia, are they noisy?

I had one on 2016. No wind noise and don’t think it affected my mileage.
-
I had a 2015 without one, and drove a 2020 with one. Didnt notice any noise difference, although the visor did what visors do better on the truck with one than on the truck without one. Id get the visor if it were my choice.
mustang190 Thanks this. -
I drove a 2013 Cascadia with an outside visor.
I also drove a few without one. I am like you, was certain that it would make some noise and use more fuel. Can’t really say if I noticed either though.
But, I think it looks out of place on such an aerodynamic truck. I would not get it if it were my truck. But I am all about reducing drag and fuel mileage, so even if there is nothing noticeable, it would still bug me.
Those fender mirrors bother me too. Talk about speed brakes. -
I have never driven a truck without one!
Never noticed wind noise.
That visor is there for a reason. -
Buy a short roll of 4” tint and install at the top of the windshield. Work better than the visor and no harm to the aero of the truck.

They removed the visor to cheapen the truck.
Just like the removal of vent windows and kick vents and curb windows.
Those were always valuable items to have and they worked.
But the mega companies wanted the cheapest trucks they could buy. -
The visor works great to mount the I Pass for tolls.
