After getting settled in last night, my trucks bluetooth stereo was hijacked. I normally make sure the volume is off before beddy bed because it has a tendency to blast static after it resets itself to FM radio after the opti idle kicks on after a few hours. Last night, out of the blue, some kind of russian ethnic music comes blasting over my stereo. It was loud, full blast loud.

I guessed I left the volume up and the radio came on due to opti idle resetting it. I got up to lower the volume.... it was already lowered all the way down... it turned off after 30 seconds or so on its own. problem solved... or so I thought. About 5 mins later it happened again. It did not turn off this time. Russian ethnic music blasting at full volume. It would not stop. Turning the stereo power off did nothing to stop it. I had to dig up the truck radio manual and figure out how to disable the bluetooth.

OK, somehow my radio was hijacked but what was really weird is that the volume control was hijacked as well.

Now that Im thinking about it, it was probably the trucks ELD device which comes over the speakers weather the radio is off or on. But nah that cant be it because disabling the radios bluetooth was what made it stop.

Maybe my truck is possessed by Baryshnikov.

I bought a sound bar at Best Buy for my television in the living room.
About 2:30 am every morning it would start blasting away with music or talking. That was with my television turned off. Returned it and got my money refunded.

I feel for you. I think you did about the only thing you could have done, disable your blue tooth. Perhaps you could also have gone into the blue tooth controls and disconnected the device erroneously paired to your radio. It would accomplish the same thing and neither option would be a preferred option over the other as I see it. I assume it was by accident, but obviously another truck close enough to you paired with your truck's blue tooth radio. Volume control, starting and stopping music playback are all functions you can control through blue tooth. So, you got punked I guess. I hope you had a sense of humor about it, it is kinda funny. Imagine the guy in the truck trying to figure out why HIS radio ain't working like he wants it to.

I use the blue tooth all the time when Im driving. No matter how turned up the volume is on the device it dont make a peep until I turn up the volume on the stereo. The ELD / truck computer will come thru the speakers with the volume off tho.

I was thinking Id have to go find which truck it was coming from if I couldnt get it to stop lol. It was blaasting.

    Better call Putin.

LOL lucky that yours defaults to FM radio because mine blasts white noise and usually the weatherman every single time. Not too sure I’ve never heard of this happening especially with the volume down. As for a solution, not a cause, I would have just either from the stereo or slept with the truck off key out. Either way thanks for the laugh.

Your truck is channeling its inner white Volvo.
