I just had my last trainee call me today all upset and practically in tears. They wanted to give him the Brooklyn load off the Wytheville yard. He asked what he should do, knowing the brain damage he would have put me through today, tonight and tomorrow, I told him not to take it. He called his DM and told her his trainer he had said to refuse the load. She said fine.

I would’ve gladly accepted the challenge just to get the experience. Might as well accept the fact that not all pickups and deliveries are going to be easy. Once you’ve been to a place then at least you’ll know the next time what you are up against. Practice is what makes us better! Experience is what makes us professional!

March of ‘78. Went to 24 Rock St (Boars Head) Brooklyn NY for the first time for a pick up. Here I am 43 years later still dealing with them. The only difference? I don’t live in the city anymore, I got out in ‘80 and have never looked back.

There's definitely worse places than Boar's Head in Brooklyn and NYC. The only thing I hated was the on street parking. If they had a large off street parking area, it wouldn't really be bad at all.

Brooklyn ain't that bad, except for Door #1. Get there early enough, you can park in the pen. You can also park on the street nearby. Going down Flatbush can be a little nerve-wracking, though.

Only reasons I wouldn't wanna go to Brooklyn is (A) it pretty much requires an overnight drive; and (B) they've got that whole "Report a trucker who's idling!" program where people can get money for turning you in.

For once Id like to have a heavy load instead of light going to the PNW. Only thing Im worried about is wind for now. Guess Ill just park it if need be.

This is our driver we lost last Saturday. I was asked to post his name on our thread by his driver manager. Edward (Jojo) Donald. Due to a medical emergency, he lost control of his truck outside of Orlando, and succumbed to his injuries. He was 51 and a 3 year driver here at Abilene. He ran team with his wife, whom he dropped off at their home in Tennessee the night before, then continued on to delivery. Let’s all take a moment and keep the family in our thoughts and prayers. Abilene has stepped up to help the family at this time. If any of our drivers would like to find out what they could do, contact your Driver Manager. Thank you all.

Dropped a Jersey load in Chester, taking hometime in Richmond till Tuesday, can't go home this time, got family sick, thinking it's that virus.

Doing a few aarons, then going to get the truck washed, and have a pm setup for later.

Cliff hasn't been bad the last few weeks,he answers the phone, and most times I have a load,by the time I'm unloaded.

I'm like what's going on around here I'm not used to this lol.

Cliff is also a smoker, so you can often find him out on the porch when you're on the yard. That's one thing I miss about my current DM.

Good luck with the family situation. Hope it's just something minor and everyone returns swiftly to good health.
