Hello there, I’m currently a student in CDL school. Long story short I live in the US and my gf/fiancé lives in Manitoba. I know there’s a lot to one of us moving to the others country however does anyone know of companies that run through Manitoba and have bases close to the border? Even better if anyone knows Canadian companies that hire through the temporary foreign workers program, but understand if not. Just any companies that would hire me out of school (accredited by ACCSC and members of the CVTA) and run routes and have a base close to allow me the ability to see her more often would be greatly appreciated. I’ve come across S&S Transport, and I believe Old Dominion does as well. Any helpful information would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you.
also might add I’ll be getting my Tanker, Doubles-Triples, and Hazmat endorsements.
Cross Border Companies.

I’ve definitely seen them come up I’ve also heard people say stay away from them and Britton. This could be groupthink however. Any firsthand knowledge?

Britton drivers on this forum love the company.
@MrEd works there.
I think Bison owns Britton.Bean Jr. and RampageGNS Thank this. -
They do own them. It’s just confusing as a newbie trying to decipher if people have legitimately bad experiences or if they just have something stuck in their craw. Thank you for linking someone with actual first hand knowledge.Chinatown Thanks this.

As an american driver, I believe you cannot do loads starting and ending in canada
You can only take them across the border. One load in then the very next load needs to be back to the USRampageGNS, SoulScream84 and Farmtractor9900 Thank this. -
Correct; similar rules as in the US.
To be perfectly honest, there are a few exceptions, but it gets complicated, so for most cases keep it simple; in and out.RampageGNS, The Crossword Trucker and SoulScream84 Thank this. -
You're also going to need a FAST pass

HO Wolding might run Canada but I’m not sure to be honest. I know they hire new drivers out of school though
RampageGNS Thanks this.
