I thought those guys didn't do too bad. I know that whenever I feel like I have it rough with 12 stops or something, I think of Ole' Buster Brown who probably has 10 times that.

They dont do bad when they get some years of seniority, but until then it is a struggle to make it. Like I said, if you are single and living at home with mom and dad, then go for it. But if you are married and have some obligations, you best stay away from Buster Brown.
They have already handed out a bunch of lay-off slips, effective the 22nd. -
No thanks. I wouldn't want to do the kind of hustling that they have to do.

never been interested in ups. there are better companies out there doing basically the same thing and making more money.

I worked for UPS for 11 months. After 6 months would have been fired if not for the Union but thats about all they did for me. I was getting dumped on for filing a grievance against supervisors working and that continued until the day I left. I was a preloader -- most of the guys in this job are there for 5 years minimum before they get a shot at driving
and they literally kill you in the process --They've got most of the young
guys working through thier break to catch up. One guy age 55 who was in great health--didn't smoke, didn't drink, ate healthy, dropped dead of a heart attack on the line on Jan. 4th, 2006. Another guy who had been there for 6 oor 7 years was flunked out of driving for not being fast enough. Now he is back loading cars making $3 or 4 hundred a week.
I agree, if you are single and living at home -- you might get a shot in 6 or 7 years. At age 50 I saw no future for me.LilRedRidingHood Thanks this. -
I read the link however I could not find out just why he was fired? I understand it was for some kind of violation and one not widely known or even lawful. Just what was the violation?

He carried a tape recorder in his pocket and would record what was said between him and his supervisor(s). I have done the same. -
Sounds like he had a terminal manager that was more of a politician than a manager.

I do not know if any terminal manager through out the UPS system has ever been anything else. In reality, the terminal managers are nothing but "micro-managed robots". Here where I live, they have a minority female for one, does that tell you anything? -
I have one like that. He will hang a driver out to dry on a residential delivery if the consignee complains loud enough, but an actual company that we deal with regularly? No, screw them.
