1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Is Swift hiring from Florida at this time?

The trucks that they use in Tampa are: Volvo and Frightline 10 speed. There not top notch, due too the abuse they get, but their manageable to drive.

Just remember when you decide which school to go too. You pay for what you get. And go for the WIA program, it would be senseless to get financed or pay cash [unless you have that amount of cash just laying around], if you can get government assistance.

I attended TDI Sanford. Workforce paid for it. Good program, although intense. High attrition rate. I had plenty of range time for backing practice as well as plenty of on the road driving time. Our road instructor showed us how to float shift the last day when we had our actual licenses. This course was three weeks it could have easily been six. Some folks didn't pass and paid extra to return the following week.
I am on a waiting list for Swift. The recruiter is very informative his name is Chris Watson 1-800-258-2554

I am glad to see that TDI at least is truthful on their homepage saying "Earn up to $34,000 your first year".

I don't know how they cram everything into 3 weeks though. I attended the CMV driving course at the local community college. My course was 8 weeks...4 in the classroom and 4 on the skills pad and driving.

Honestly, they could shorten the classroom portion to 2 weeks easy and then 4 weeks on the skills pad and on the road.

    Good luck to you.
