Ireland is in the midst of an economic surge and has been for a few years now.

Funny how when you have a government that is intent on building their economy that they focus on manufacturing.

All we can say is "What would like on your burger today?"

Ireland was in the midst of an economic surge about the same time as the US was, Ireland is now ###### economically like everywhere else.

Check out this job board for transportation jobs http://jobbank.fas.ie/servlet/Watis...BACK=TEMPLATE=WWW_JS_VAC_CRITERIUM_SELECT.HTM

81 jobs in total, where a few years back there where 500+ jobs there on a given day. Dont you think i would be at home now enjoying the horizontal rain and gale force winds if there was an economic surge goin on.

Anyway back on topic, was looking through the CSA 2010 pdf thingy and apparently its an offence for a driver not to speak English, 6 points it gives that on the pdf. Wonder if Belfast brogue is ok LOL.

    Here it is http://csa2010.fmcsa.dot.gov/Documents/SMSMethodologyVersion1_2Final_2009_06_18.pdf

Well this was once again a large topic at our safety meeting this week. Our company safety director spoke for a good bit on it again and basically what he told us is the information that is listed in the links everyone has provided here is not set in stone yet that this is all still subject to change before it goes into effect. He was part of a trucking advocacy group in washington before coming to our company 3 years ago and he still has some pretty good informational contacts there. Basically he said that at this point a shot in the dark is as good as any guess he can give to what will actually go into affect.

I have a family and bills that I need to take care of. I can't do that if I am not working. I also can't do that if am injured or dead. I am all for being safe and driving a safe vehicle. When I am on the road I want to make it back home. Also, I have family on the road that I don't want injured or killed by an unsafe trucker or driver. If I can't drive legal and safe and still make money than I can live with a caeer change. couldn't live with driving illegal or unsafe and killing someone elses loved one or ones.

I know you are going to tell me how you haven't killed anyone yet while driving off the books, over weight, or with faulty equiptment. That doesn't meant it can't or won't happen. Will you really be able to live with killing someone because you wouldn't color inside the lines? nothing heroic or admirable in that.

    Jmurman Thanks this.

Most drivers agree with your thoughts. We dont get out here and look for oppurtunities to drive illegal, unsafe or with faulty equipment. It is stress and greif for us that, frankly, we dont need.or want either! What you must understand is that nothing happens in a vacum. We are reacting to forces beyond our control MOST OF THE TIME!
I can only speak for myself, and if the country wants legal and safe drivers, we have to be compensated for ALL OUR TIME, not just miles driven!

    lilillill and kajidono Thank this.
