Well looks like everyone else already covered most of it. But for what it's worth, you go girl. Do not let anyone tell you that you do not belong in trucking.. You not like others, have done a lot of research, and came to the conclusion trucking is best for you.. You already know what to and what not to expect. You said so your self, and being someone who hasn't made a lot of money over you life time, well it should be easier for you then the ones who made 100k a yr. Then cry and wine when they see that they won't make that kind of money in the trucking industry when first starting out.. People need to learn how to adapt, especially coming from say a office environment, looks like that won't be a problem for you.. Good luck and keeps us posted on your training and when you first go solo..
I've put a lot of research into a new career

Thanks DD, I really appreciate it. I imagine it is hard to be used to making a lot of money and having lots of "stuff" but I've gotten accustomed to just scrapin by. I've actually been happier than I ever was when I had more than I needed
After seeing the statistics yesterday at job council, I am dang grateful to have that dishwashing job!! One thing I've heard is the trainers are really great at RCC. I'm really very excited
but I know I have to contain myself as the next class I can get into will have to be after I finish this seasonal job at harry and davids.
Thank you again

At least your working. Washing dishes is to good for some. But if you need money in your pocket, well you do what you have to do.. I worked in the restaurant industry for yrs doing just that. I did not bother me one bit, as I was working. Some look down on people who do jobs like that, but hey a few dollars is better then 0 dollars period..

You tell them 1 or 2 that's it's a very simple mind over matter. You don't mind and they don't matter PERIOD.

Oh yeah
I will be bussing tables, some sweeping and mopping so a little variety. They also said they might need me to waitress and/or bartend so you never know where a job might lead. It's only 3 miles from home so I could ride my bike if I needed to, or walk! Then school is just 4 miles past that. It could work out well
My seasonal job is swing so I could still be available for the Sat. Sun. mornings at the restaraunt. It's all falling into place. I needed the money for among other things, gas, and whatever the DMV fees will be(endorsements etc.)
Thanks again for your encouraging words

That's Pharmacist that makes $65k+. Which requires about 6 -8 years of schooling at about $25k a year. She mentioned Pharmacy Technician only 2 yrs of schooling in most states and in CA median salary is $36k. Honestly the pay just isnt worth it as a pharmacy technician most times. People ##### at you for their insurance problems, doctor problems which are no fault of yours. Not to mention ######## about how their prescription isn't ready 20 minutes before the promised time because you are too busy answering their phone calls for stupid questions like "I got an automated call saying my prescription is ready, can I come pick it up?".
Pretty much why I'm also looking for a change. I am certainly willing to take a slight pay cut for a year or so. Just to get away from all of that.

Come down here Publix starts theirs at 100k with degree.

LOL, yeah, I know everyone's got their opinion. I don't have a lot to work with as far as job availability in my region of the world. It's pretty desolate period! Just that trucking rated higher than the other 4 fields of work I was sizing up. Thanks GH

If I could survive on janitorial/dishwashing wages I would just stick with that. No one bugging you as long as all is clean, no problems, no stress.
Maybe I could just go way out into the mountains and live in a tree
'sept a grizzly would eat me
