Ok guys i was wondering how much you guys spend washing your truck? Because i was thinking maybe i should start washing peoples trucks around my area for cheap. Then i could get some money and as well get to talk to many truckers around my area and also at the end see a nice shiny chrome truck.

I pay the Blue Beacon $58 for my truck and reefer combo. In Ft pierce Fla I pay $65 due to the local eco-nazi regulations. Actually with the rain X on both, I pay like $87. I never get just my tractor only washed, but I think the BB charges like $30 +/- a buck or two for just the truck.

Good luck on the "for cheap". Most companys have national accounts with Blue Beacon or other such. By and large they do pretty good for the work they do and the speed with which they do it. Add in additives like rainex, aluminum cleaner and polish, engine wash and the ability to wash out trailers; you just can't match em. Just the extended brushes for doing stacks and sleepers are gonna set you back a bunch. You do not wanna see the reaction of a large car owner if he catches you climbing up on his fibreglass hood to reach the upper bunk area.:biggrin_25513:

What I'd suggest rather is doing detailing. Polishing wheels and tanks, cleaning interiors; that sort of thing. Doing interiors, remember to not put Armorall on stuff like clutch, brake, fuel pedals or floor mats..... steery wheels too (voice of experience here:biggrin_25525:).

yea i understand what you mean its also kind of dangerous to climb on a hood when its wet.THanks for the idea though im going to try it and ill remember not to put armor all on those areas. There is some owner operators who park there trucks by walmart so im going to try it.Thanks for the info and responses guys.:biggrin_255:

There used to be lots of folks that traveled around and did mobile truck washing, the EPA or local or state pollution nazis have put a stop to that. In their book, any thing you wash off a truck must be treated as a waste product, so it must either go into an approved sewage treatment, or your own treatment center. Down the storm drain is a bozo no-no.

Learn how to polish wheels for 5 bucks a wheel. Carry some rain-x a few rags a brush for the interior. Add up the cost's is it worth it? Ive considered this myself im only 16 it an easy way for some extra cash. And bigdoug this isn't easy work so get ready to bust your axx.

I guess busting your ### is worth it at the end because you get some money and you get to meet new truckers to give you advice.
