Thanks man. Yeah I have a tendency to do that. I’m not worried about losing my spot so to speak. I’ve only ever had one ticket, speeding 1-5 over, and it fell off my license already. Appreciate it. Glad the Dakota Post gives you a physical address that saves a lot of stress.

Indeed, which would be nice coming from a state without them already. Don’t want to start paying now.

Could he sign up with Dakota Post now for the physical address to use on applications and do all the residency things on his way to whatever job he takes?

Yes, but in order to get his license switched and residency he would actually have to go to a DMV is South Dakota. It is advisable to get the mailbox set up beforehand, but I wouldn't do it to early since he is not in need of a mail forwarding service at the moment. No sense paying for something you are not going to use before you need it. I would get set up with Dakota post say a week or two in advance then all you would need to do it roll into town. Get a room for the night and hit the DMV first thing in the morning. I also recommend going to the DMV is Sioux Falls since they are very familiar with Dakota post and the residency requirements. I overheard several others doing the same thing while I was there.

Definitely going to go this route. Set up mail when I get my date for testing with the trooper. Pass and once license is in hand head on out. Probably going to call them in the next week or so for random small questions I have. You’ve been very helpful man. Much appreciated.

Do you know if these hire out of school? Don’t see much listed in the way of hiring requirements on their web pages. Also can’t seem to find the Nutrea company page. Could be because my searches are pinging from NH and not around ND however.

Do they haul other freight in these divisions? I see it says home weekly or daily on the site is one much more common than the other or both seemingly obtainable?

Yes. I can't say I know much about the dedicated side, but I do know the LTL division pretty well. The LTL division is all home daily day cab work except for the maverick drivers which usually stay out for a week helping terminals that are short-staffed. Plenty of work out of Fargo running either night line haul runs between terminals or day shift Pick up and delivery runs. Line haul pays by the mile P&D by the hour with time and a half after 40 hours. Both work 5 days with weekends off in most cases. Once you have the required experience (one year) its easy to transfer over to ltl from otr.

And yes the freight is different. LTL is dry van with multiple pick up and deliveries and the occasional full load. OTR is mainly truckload reefer freight.
