And I don't really care how many of those family's you DON'T know. If it works for that family, who are you, or myself, or anyone else to judge, and say whether they should or should not???

And, yes, there are plenty of offices that people bring their kids to....heck, there are even offices where people are allowed to bring their pets!

As for the emergency room, ANYONE can get sick and need an ER while in a truck, even the driver. That's why when I had a heart attack while on the truck, an ambulance was called, took me directly to the ER.

Yeah Truckers News or one of the rags did a story about a teen aged girl that was raised in the truck even home schooled. What a life for a kid! But the part about an ER and needing to leave the child in the hospital for 2 or 3 days. What if the company says leave them there? Are you? What if they can't get you back to pick them up? Will you have the money for a bus ticket somewhere you might NOT be because of another load? Or are you going to tell them NO and have them reschedule the load or repower it? And what if they decide to just "let you go" sitting at the hospital?
Those are a few more questions to ask! Not to mention what they might do to your DAC report!

The other guy that had the heart attack..of course for you it's different . You're the driver and when YOU go down then a different set of rules apply! Company comes out and drops an MT trailer and takes the loaded one. They might even take your truck and buss/fly you home when you get out of the hospital or have another truck pick you up but in the OP's position if it were to happen the CHILD isn't the driver or an employee so it's their(the companies) call on what the driver needs to do!

Being a father I just wouldn't keep a child in a small closet and have them call it home! People are getting arrested for confining a child to a closet these days! Kids need a back yard and whats found at a truck stop aint one!

As far as having to stay in the hospital after my heart attack, I was not the driver.I was simply a passenger. But as my husband is an O/O, they re-powered his load, and it was delivered by another driver. They had a load waiting for him the day I was released, a week later.

The points you made a valid, Rollover, but mostly seem to apply to company drivers. I don't know of any company who will allow your entire family to ride with you, unless you are an O/O.

My neices and nephew WANT to get back on the truck with their dad. They loved being with him, and being on the road. All three are intelligent, well-behaved young people, with none of the problems people might think they would have. They are fun-loving, spirited, polite, and well-adjusted. How can anyone argue that there lives on the truck were bad for them???

    I certainly can not.

if you dont think raising children, whole families in a truck wouldnt cause social or mental issues with the kids you raise think about this. If you think this country is screwed up now with all the wackos and crazy people, raise every child in this country in a truck for the next couple generations till they graduate, and THEN tell me how screwed up the country would be.

I worked at a office where you could bring your pet... I thought it was a dumb idea...but people still did it.

Just a ridiculous statement, there. Every child in a truck?? Does that mean that every adult would be a truck driver??

I'm done arguing with you...it's pointless, and a waste of my time.

    A few more words

Trucks only have 2 seats, who you want to die should the unthinkable happen?

    Really?
Swift requires the person to be 12 years or older. True about the no CDL part, though.

Luana, Leann and Lorelei have all been with me - and all of them started riding with me when they were 12 years old.

A baby would never be allowed - NEVER!!!
Nor would more than one passenger. So a wife and a baby would never happen.
At least not for a company driver.

Aside from that, bringing a baby on a truck might be considered as child abuse or child endangerment by many.
You could lose your baby forever, and the child would only know a life as a foster child from then on.
