One of my truck driving friends says she talked to a couple of JB Hunt drivers, and they told her that JB is forcing everyone into Lease Purchase programs. Any truth to that?

Same friend, different company, CR England. One of her friends got sent home, because they didn't have company trucks either, even though that's what she went there for. What is the scoop?

I am just curious, I am not going to work there, my friend is reliable, but I don't know who she talked to, and I am skeptical.

    Thanks for your answers.

    You so funny.....

I know how it is with rumors, that's why I'm asking here. This is my reliable friend, but I don't know how reliable her sources are. I am skeptical, she believes what she was told. So help us settle this please??? With whip cream, cherry and sprinkles on top please???

I heard that same rumor 2-3 years ago. I doubt it's true.

I looked on each respective website, and did not see anything to that effect. But, at my companies website it still shows company driver info, but they will not hire anything but lease drivers, for the last 6 months or so.

I heard the same rumor from a JB mechanic who was worried about his job because it would affect him. Lets see.

Thanks for the answer, I just really figured someone may know, considering how big both these companies are.

I think the closer perspective is that JB is trying to get as many of their drivers to do the lease purchase thing. They have that large group of company trucks, and used truck values are really low now. If they can get them out on lease purchase plans, they can get higher values. Just in listening to one of their ads on XM, I took out the calculator and figured even their oldest tractors, they are getting $42,000 at a minimum out of someone who does the lease. That is downright criminal. A similar truck on the open market is only worth mid 20's to low 30's.
