I wouldnt park on an offramp (or even an onramp) as a lot of states are cracking down on that. Offramps are a good place to get clobbered by somebody falling asleep at the wheel. If you park in the four wheeler lot at a truck stop and sleep most likely no one will bother you. Just watch for signs about parking over four hours or something like that. I'm sure some places that have a hotel would give you a hard time for sleeping in the lot instead of spendiing money on a room. Rest areas havent changed much, so I'd stay out of them too.

Thank you. I think a truck stop is the best place to catch a few zzzz's. I know a couple might think I'm just being cheap, but that's not the case at all. When I'm traveling I can't sleep more than a few hours at a time and I find that if I get a motel room then I find myself wide awake and can't sleep at all. So, I guess it is cheap of me not to get a room and lay in bed and think about sleeping. :biggrin_25518:

Since I was asking about free Wifi places I thought I'd share what I stumbles across tonight. This site gives free
    wifi spots by state.

I don't remember if its the same site, but I used to use a site similar to that. They were badly outdated on their info.

Goodmorning, most times you can get on cb and ask a truck driver for a extra shower ticket, when i was running , i didnt have ime too stop, just long enuff too fuel en grab a burger, so i had me a big stack, too the driver that didnt know anything, i sold it to him for 5 bucks, giving a heck of sales picth, like saving $5 off a shower :biggrin_2559: and the idiots would buy em, but pilot you can go in get a free card, same as flying j, petro, they put the shower on there, i think the j even puts that wi fi on theres but you have too pay, in iowa all rest stops have wi fi free or soon will be,most dont care all they see is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, but now its the drivers you gotta wacth for, i rember standing line for 35 min for a shower, so be respectfull and let the truckdriver shower first, course how can you tell , they all look the same , the truckdrivers and general people,:biggrin_2559: most will give extra towels too, i like the ta shower you got a ta card and the number system , i like that,:biggrin_25512: Everett

Stay off the ramps taking naps, dangerous spots for accidents, oversize loads need the room.
Stay out of the smaller rest areas, the larger well lighted ones are more secure, be aware of your surroundings!
May be better off staying in the truckstop car parking lots, just use common sense where to park.

most truck stops dont allow non truckers to shower or shop there, but the ones that do are segregated just like in the old days

everything is labeled trucker or 4 wheeler, you get your own water fountain and everything, its pretty cool to be honest
