Hello, i am going to go to swift trucking school and get a job driving for them around the month of may. I want to know is getting a job driving for swift pay good, what is annual pay for new drivers and experienced drivers?
i heard some trucking company's start paying you 37k a year and when you get some experience the company will pay you 50k or 60k a year. does swift pay that?

 

Realistic figure would be somewhere between 25-32k. I doubt you'd make anywhere near 30k as new meat in this economy though.

 

Seems like Swift is a "what you make it" company - just like everything else is in life. Thanks to all on this thread for your insight, wisdom and a special thanks to Ford for sharing his experiences. That being said, I am at a crossroads - do I attend Swift academy or go to a private school (AIT) then getting on with Werner....anyone have any insight about them?

I like working for Swift. I team drive with my husband, we see between 5-6K miles a week.

 

I know it, This home time stuff is crazy. I'm out of the panhandle of flordia, pensacola.(just got ran over my IDA, hurrcane.) All the companies that I have been talking to say, sorry we are not hiring out of that area. I ask why! They say, will have a hard time getting me home. With this being known. I say, I don't need home time. ( trying a new angle).WE can't do that. Ok, Hire me out of the nearest place from here and I'll park the truck there and get my self home.They say sorry only can hire where you live. And it goes on and on. Now what I'm Hearing from all of these post on any given thread about home time. Is that you can't get home time when you ask for it. Some have to take home time somewhere else, Other than home. So!! Why does it take to be hired out one state. To drive in the other 48 states. that you are never going get back home when you need to anyway. They just keep you out, Away from home. Home sick, I'm job sick. I'm just saying I don't, At this time feel the need for home time. I feel the need for "show me the money" Baby needs a new pair of shoe and a roof over thier heads. Thats my part. roll on!

 

Okay, here's exactly what we did. We used our daughter & son in law's address in AZ to apply then we moved here. Do you have a family member or a friend you can rent a room from in another state?

 

hey big wheels i do know that florida is supposed to be on a upshift as things are supposedly picking up. i live in jax and they hired me, buddy of mine is in flagler beach,(st. Augustine) both of us will be out of the ocala terminal, so do you know anyone in those areas that you could use thier addy?
