I am just curious how often do you get pulled over for an inspection on average. I understand that there will be some that dont get pulled in and some that do a bunch, but just on average how often does thes detain you.

    Thanks

depend on the state your in. Here in Arizona. The state has it. The county has it and most city has it. you can get wack by any of them. If your rig look like ####. Then you are a good choice for them to pull you over. I-10 that run through phoenix is a safe spot. it the secondary freeway were the city or the county will have mandatory check point. Now the state police can pull you over on I-10 and it up to the officer if you need to be inspected.

It depends with me. There is days that I stop just moving violations. Other days when everyone is behaving I look for seatbelts or the biggest piece of sheet I can find. But I'm always looking for junk, junk will trump a moving violation any day of the week. There has been some fellas I have stopped 3 or 4 times in a month. And still they have the same violations, log book messed up, overweight, etc. One fella I wrote 7 overweight citations to him in a 2 week period. Had one driver get 5 seatbelt citations in about a month and the last time I saw him, he was partially ejected from his rig when he flipped it and well lets just say, he won't be getting anymore seatbelt citations. Quite a few driver's I am on a first name basis with and talk about their kids everytime I stop them.

The best advise I can give you is this, have your log book in order and your equipment up to par, you should never have a problem.

Good advice, Bear. Sadly, there are still some who won't listen! Hopefully I won't be seeing you whenever I go the PHX (my other hometown).

I can attest to this. We saw a FRTLNR at the truck wash that had the step bungied onto his cab, hubby and I both said, he's getting pulled in next scale, which for us was only a few miles down the road. He left about 15 minutes before we did, and as we rolled past the scale (closed) guess who was around back? LOL

Also, the next day after hubby was backed into and the truck was all cracked up, guess who got pulled in? Yup, they wanted to know why his truck was all smashed and the hood wouldn't sit straight. :biggrin_25523:

But doesn't it also depend on the company rating(safesat scores) ? Doesn't a high score reflect on all drivers within a company?

And placarded trucks seem to get alot of attention too.

When you get an inspection, you will get a copy of it. Carry it with you for 30 days and show it to any inspector who wants to inspect your truck. While they don't have to accept it, normally it will get you waved through without getting inspected again. Ca. does this all the time.

I have heard that but even with NY and our famous portable traps, I have not been pulled in.

I often wonder if they (officers) take notes, and share them with each other.

I've been nailed twice this year, Level 1 and a Level 3, passed easily both times. But we have drivers that literally get hammered. One guy has 7 inspections, so far this year. Two of those, were within the same month.

Our scores are like 36/87 with the high end on the drivers. So I would expect MORE inspections myself. But, I'm generally just rolled through.

I run mostly in NY, NJ, and PA. I haven't been inspected in several years.
