JTRNR 1951, whoops, I'm off a year. Sorry, retired 4-24-08. Been in the easy chair 18 months. Excuse me while I pop another cold one.

For the "experts" here......
If you had one of the Superbunks with shower, potty and cooking/ dining along with a bunk how would you log that? I mean you could take a whizz, shower, cook and eat and yet never leave the "sleeper area".
Line 2 says "Sleeper Berth" not bunk nor sleeping. In today's integral sleepers, once the window curtains are drawn, the whole of the cab is "sleeper berth" is it not? Ergo, whatever you do in that space is irrelavant no?
Line 1 says "Off duty" ;AKA not in the truck, not in control of the truck, not doing any work related activity. Therefore you could be required to produce motel reciepts to prove your line 1 entry.
Personally, I run E-log now so it's all the computer's fault.

There is no law saying that I have to go to sleep! I can go into the truck stop after driving 11 hours... Spent the next 10 hours dumping quarters into the cherry master machines.... Oh wait. Cherry master is no longer the "hot" machine... It is now the horse racing machine... Anyhow, I can waste my money on those machines for 10 hours. Then climb back into the truck & drive another 11 hours. 100% legal. Stupid, but legal!

That #### horse racing machine has alot of my money in it >.>

Now, that I have read the entire thread. I will say this I have been known to adjust my book as by about 15 mins here and there to make sure I had enough usuable time in a week for a carrier with slow trucks.
For the quote about taking a leak- In some cases I will log the 15 mins off duty-you might be gone longer than planned, while you were gone Mr. DOT showed up and is waiting to bother you or someone else or just err on the side of I dont want any issues today.
Time in sleeper: I have logged more than 12 hours in there...doesnt say I had to be asleep. I would play xbox, watch a movie, read, use the puter or sleep.
Offduty time on the road I split between the sleeper and line 1. It only says 34 hours off...never said where.
-
I find it amusing- to watch those guys pump all those quarters into that machine.
-
HA! What about the guys that carry around more paperwork and cards just for that game than they have for work? Ever since they put that #### derby owners club in the game rooms they got rid of all the good games! At least my horses live, breathe, and occasionally bite!
-
Yes, it doesn't say you have to be in the sleeper but I'm smart enough that I can add lines 1 and 2 together and come up with a figure. Some drivers have that problem of trying to get them to come out to 10! I show sleeper as my sleeping time! which is usually pretty close IF some moron doesn't have a back up beeper and takes 4 or 5 tries to hit the hole (MELTON DRIVERS!) or drives through with his jakes on thinking he looks cool or the driver at 3am doing a pre trip next to me and hits his brakes a dozen times to check the emergency brakes (do that on the fuel island drivers have a little respect for those of us asleep!) If I can sleep past the 6 hour mark I'm good! I do like to show 8 in the sleeper and I'd want a DA to prove that I wasn't there for at least 8! I'm not taking any chances any more!
