CEL, Volvo dealer says NOX sensors. They want $580 each, plus install. I installed new ones about 1.5 years ago. What is the opinion of the aftermarket NOX sensors? Those are less than half the cost of Volvo part. Any preferred aftermarket brand? Or one to stay away from? I'd be happy to get a Volvo part if I could save $150 each.
Aftermarket NOX sensors?? Are they worth it, or should I buy OEM?

Just go for it, see what happens. I would.

I buy them periodically. Roughly 50-60% quick failure or inop. right out of box. Worth a shot on my steady customers that won't get upset knowing the risk.
Hye and Snailexpress Thank this. -
Tough decision. I see them on ebay for about $150, but I don't trust them.
I found some Newstar for $450 but that's only about $100 less than Volvo.
I guess I'll just get the Volvo ones, have them today, not hard to replace, that way if they fail in under a year they're covered.
Power steering went out too, they replaced the pump and need to replace the gearbox, which I've been a little concerned about anyway.
Good thing I've been putting money aside! -
I just finished putting in 2 Nox sensors(inlet and outlet) on my Pete 2 months apart. Both where refurbished(rebuilt), that’s all they had, they can’t keep up with supply and demand I guess. I would’ve prefer and wanted new. Not even Cummins dealer had new ones. I still have the one year warranty on each. We’ll see what happens.

I replaced my inlet NOx sensor with two brands off of Amazon, and both had to be returned.

I ordered the third from the dealer (class8truckparts), and haven't had any problems with it. -
I was hoping to find Volvo brand online for le$$, but they were all almost the same price, only the "off" brand ones were cheaper and I just decided that I didn't want to chance it.
-
ordered the inlet nox sensor from amazon.ca and was good. Ordered the outlet one from amazon.com and no good.

I noticed that class8truckparts use “Dorman” sensors. Dorman are aftermarket replacement parts. I wonder if it’s there own line or where those sensors are coming from and if the quality is any good .....

Sometimes there are Volvo brand on ebay, but I wonder if they're counterfeits.
