Sitting at my 02 in farr west, UT not till 2230 tonight so I'm gonna be here awhile. Then deliver down the road from WVC then to the terminal to have the oil changed, check engine light looked at,cb power put in, CB antenna, trailer ABS sensor replaced, and have them look at the govenor. Ahhh, loverly Dexter, MI. Delievering in Detroit in the early am then, :biggrin_255::biggrin_255: have my preplan and load for going home!!!! Campbell soup to the Coca cola place??

4 whole days off and nothing pressing to do. How will I kill my time I wonder? Am quite sure that copious amounts of really GOOD beer will be involved. Admit to being a beer snob and will drop around $70 buying the quality stuff.

Oh yea, all that worrying I was doing about downtown Chicago.......it turned out not to be that bad. They actually had docks that wasn't on the street, which was nice, but it was tight. Only ran over 4 cars and scraped 1 trailer. (just kidding) Nothing like just stopping your truck in the middle of the street, truning on the 4 ways, and going to look for the rcvr. Did end up having to back back thru and intersection to make a turn. Some bum got behind me and was waving his hands and then wanted $20 for "helping me out".

I'm scheduled to start with Central Refrigeration on Nov 30. Seems like they have a PT party prior to being hired. My question to you Veteran Central drivers... How much loading/unloading is required when you drive for Central. I'm sure I can pass their tests; however, I'd prefer to be a driver rather than a lumper. Any insight or comments? Thanks, Scott

I worked for them for a year and a half.
    I never unloaded a truck.
I know of a few loads the drivers need to unload, but they are very very rare.
Central does not want you to waste your onduty hours lumping. They want them to be used driving.

1bad has been with them almost a year and has never loaded or unloaded a trailor all but the one time in PA but that was willing helping another driver that had been sitting in a dirt lot 3 days past his delievery time. And he told them unload me in 15 min or I'll unload it this lot they didn't so he did and had several other people gladly helping the old guy! If 1bad wanted physical work he would be back in a body shop not driving a truck!

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm truly looking forward to a new chapter in my life's journey, and I really enjoy reading all of the comments from you veteran professional drivers. I too just want to drive, but I will gladly help a fellow driver. I look forward to meeting some of you in the near future. Scott

In almost 2 years never unloaded. I delivered to one place one pallet with only like 50 cases of product. They were like, "are you going to unload it yourself?" I replied, "lumper please"

Central will pay a lumper far more than you as a driver, I don't work cheap.

Sitting at the Flyingj in Tulsa,Ok at he moment then I pickup in stillwell,ok and head to Center Valley,Pa. They already told me the place I am going Aldi will take me up to 24hours early. But this load goes by my house in Ohio so if i workit right I can spend almost a whole day at home.
