I need to have consistant hometime at this point so I can compensate for the per diem bs .... this driving for /185 a mile is insane ..... the .10 they call per diem is my money any way so in essance per diem pay is a BIG screw to the driver ..... if for some reason o/o doesn't pan out, I will be putting in minimum time here .....

You know at my school we have a '99 Freight Buggy that is in really good shape. 430 Detroit, super 10 and 757K on it. Western Express donated it. $5000-8000 is what it is worth.

Western sells their old trucks as a side business.

grc56 you are correct about the per diem. when companys make it manditory to take per diem its not for the drivers benifit!:biggrin_25513: Im assuming on the o/o side
per diem is not a issue? Hope things work out for you.

I've done it both ways. It doesn't really matter. Your checks are bigger on per diem because there are less taxes coming out. But you get a smaller tax refund at end of the year. Who cares what your gross income is? All I care about is the net.

You might change your mind when you apply for a loan,
or a credit card, or buying a home. also your social security and workmans comp, and disibility benifits all reduced. It will affect you more than you know, meanwhile these companys are making money with our money and we are paying for it! If you are happy with
per diem great, but when companys make it manditory
who do you really think:biggrin_2554: is the benifactor?

gross is what everything else is based on ... social security/unemployment/workmans comp/any type of loan plus any profit sharing Roehl may put in your account is based on gross..... without per deim you would make .285 per mile plus your tax write off .... with it you make .185 per mile and no write off

I have to agree, per deim isn't for our benifit, but it has helped me. I've been trying to short sale my house, and I had to show a loss of income, thanks to per diam, I was able to show an even larger loss of income ;)
