Looks like your set man carry a bucket with all your bottles etc and that brush should be new. Polish them up by hand and see what polish is the best IMO zephyr pro 40 is the easiest to wipe off and gives a great shine.

my company gets the $12.00 tractor wash every 2 weeks, and it looks like it. When I feel rich, I'll take it to the truck wash and get a proper wash. Occasionally I'll watch for the local strip club to do a charity car wash and take the truck by for a donation. I used to have a pic. of 6 topless strippers "hand" washing my hood and windows.

I forgot to answer but most of the truck washes are paid by the company BUT when i do go through a BB or who ever I do not sit in the little room! Get OUT there and walk around as they wash and you'll get a better job.

Also don't just drive away! Sit in the driveway till the water dries off and inspect the truck and if not satisfied go in and complain and they might just back you into the bay when they get done with the guy behind you. I watch these guys go through the bay and drive away only to see them later crying about the job done on the truck!

O/O's and L/P's: WAX your equipment! You put or are putting a lot of money into a truck! HAND or buff wax it with GOOD wax at least once a year! It will keep that paint job from fading and peeling and it also makes it easier for the shops to wash it and it will dry faster! (also think resale value!)

Don't waste your money on those spray on waxes they are pushing! THAT is a waste of money! NOTHING will work as good EXCEPT a good buffer or hand job! There is nothing as ugly or depressing as a faded out red, yellow or grey truck! Blacks and dark colors look 100% better with wax and you can feel that 1% fuel mileage gain as the air flows better across a waxed surface! It's been proven!

My favorite wax is Racers Edge. It's a little pricey but it's a real "wipe on wipe off" wax! I've tried others even McGuire's but I'll stick with what works! If you put it on with elbow grease or a buffer it looks fantastic! And lasts for a year and no one can lean against the paint job as they'll slide their arse right off the truck! I use it on my company truck (yes I DO care about my equipment as I'm the one driving it)(but I look good anyway! ROFL) on my P/u truck (maroon and sweet!) my car and my bike Silver and Black!

I make my windshield washer fluid by using 2 or 3 drops of DAWN dish washing detergent. WARNING: more than several drops of Dawn and the areas of the windshield that the wipers don't wipe will get a little cloudy until you squeegee it again!) It is the best for cutting road film and oil! I add about a cup per gallon of Mr Clean and the rest with water. During the winter I replace the water with the blue stuff. I advise against using the blue stuff in the warm months as the blue dye has a tendency to stop up the nozzles of your sprayers. If this happens get a piece of wire from a red tag or bread bag and use it to run out the hole and then a blow gun to finish the job. Also while you are up there doing the windshield take a paper towel with some of your cleaner sprayed on it and clean the wiper blades. Many drivers neglect this and wonder why their wipers streak so much and think they are old or worn and waste money buying a new set! A good cleaning can make those blades last 50% longer and they will move water better! Loot at the edges. Are they getting a feathered look along the edge? Then it's time to replace them. Go to WalMart at a 75% savings over the truck stop!

Someone asked me what I use or if I use Son of a Gun. Nope. I use MR Clean, now with febreeze! It costs less that the small amount of the spray bottle of Son of a Gun and has more uses! It's a great cleaner, is pretty gentle on the interior surfaces and makes the truck smell nice when done! I have a spray bottle (old Windex or what ever now as 409 quit making the window cleaner which out performs Windex on diesel smoke by 100%) with 1/2 of Mr Clean and 2 drops of dawn and the rest water. This is used for spot cleaning the floors and other surfaces. Just spray and paper towel it up. It's also good on the windshield as a pre softener on the bugs! I usually hit the windshield with the water hose if there is still one there or hook mine up and do it then spray it with my cleaner then spray a little on the squeegee (this helps to get the grease loose in it from idiots who have to use them to wash their trucks on the fuel island!) and do wash the bugs away!

Did you get a truck that had a smoker in it? Does it still smell like an ahtray after you cleaned evey surface in it? Get your Mr Clean out and a coat hanger and a rag. open the coat hangar out and with a pair of needle nose pliers (yes you should have a pair in that handy dandy little tool bag) and bend the coat hanger end around the rag in the center.

Next. take a small fatheaded screw driver (from the same place the needle nosed pliers came from!) and GENTLY remove the louvers from the AC vents. LOOK at them and see how they come out so you don't break them! Hopefully you have a small trash can that you are using for your cleaning and dip the rag into your Mr Clean and ram rod out the AC vents as far as you can go and then rince the rag and do it again till the rag comes clean. The vent louvers you drop into the trash can and when finished with the vents use the tooth brush on them and that part is finished!

Now, if you can get to the fan motor spray the fan and use a tooth brush to clean the fins. Repeat in the sleeper. Also have the shop change any filters in the AC system. Especially if a previous driver had Fido or Kitty in the truck! Animal hair will stop up a filter faster than dirt!

Please don't write that you never have time to clean your truck! I've been out here way longer than most of you and that's pure BS! EVERYONE has a layover day some where some time especially lately! Now if you WANT to lay around in yours or someone elses filth go for it but let me remind you that when Mr DOT officer walks up to your truck and looks in, what he sees can reflect on what he does to you next! Not to mention the pride you have in your ride!

You might find that what I wrote above will also go along with this thread I did. Go check it out as I do not mind helping another driver out especially in these bottom feeder times!

The kid is simply wanting to wash a truck, all the while befriending some truck drivers, in hopes of one day being behind the wheel running with those same guys. I did the same thing he wants to do when I was a kid, washed trucks for donations. didnt care, I was getting to know these guys, B.S. with them. Years later, I have ran with most of them up and down the road at one point or another.

That's how you start out in the past year ive met a few other truckers friends of my dad getting to know them and all. I didn't know how to even polish a wheel or hold a brush right but my dad has taught me and those skills will pay off. Yea it's tough some think you just go to school and your done. You have to learn alot more than driving.
