There are some trucks that are pretty awful. Most are taken out of service for parts or rebuilt if they have less than 500k miles. They only keep trucks for 3 years and then start phasing them out. The sell off the older trailers but I've seen some pretty nasty ones still rolling. I'm just not sure after how many miles they start to sell the trailers.

I'm going with Schnieder for my CDL Training , from all i have looked at , checked out, they seem to be the best for me. And Its 18 months that you drive for them after training ..which is fine with me and the Terminal is Dallas , which will be fine being i'm in OKC . The guy that I've been emailing back and forth has been very helpful, he gave me good decent answers and didn't act like I was a bother. I like that.

Dallas is a decent OC. I did the first part of my training at that STA.

i am trying to start a career as a driver and would like some info on financial aid and the best schools. i live in wv but state aid has been frozen. are there any schools near me that finance tuition? is schneider really a good co? i have been talking to tmc and until i read this forum, i was going to go with them. they would pay my tuition and train me in columbia sc, about 2 1/2 hours from me. anybody got any advice?

try PAM..............do a google search on them

Forgot about that, Schneider will reimburse tuition also as long as you have a certificate from the school.

Hello Portland Driver,
I'm the newf on this board. I was wondering what STL means . . . and is there a glossary on this board for beginners such as myself?
Thanks,

STL is service team leader.
Schneider loves their ancronyms. -
Okay, this is my first attempt at contact! Not sure yet if I'm doing this right or not but only one way to find out...
I'm a new graduate from a private trucking school...all went well. Lots of recruiters during the last 4 weeks, didn't fill out a single app. I wanted to wait to see what they all had to offer.
I think my interest is in bulk/tanker, and I've only found Schneider that would train on tankers. They will send me up to Harrisburg, PA (Carlisle) for 5 weeks. That's 500 miles from home...no big deal...I think I'll drive so I won't have to rely on other means to get around once there.
Can anyone tell me what to expect? Extra cost for my own room, type of training to expect, pay, food, etc?
Any input will be greatly appreciated. KEEP IT SAFE OUT THERE!

Carlisle... my condolences
See this post and it will answer a lot fo your questions: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...de-scoop/19978-multiple-mention-thread-4.html
About the only question I didn't answer in the above post was cost of your own room. Depends on the hotel. Some will give you the room at Schneider's rate which could be as much as half the normal rate or you could be stuck paying the full rate. If you are going into their basic 2 week course, that will add up fast. Also don't forget if you are going into Bulk you have additional training at another location for the bulk module.
Additional info: Some hotels have laundry. Some don't. You can do laundry free at the OC but you have to lug your dirty clothes back and forth. If you are driving that shouldn't be a problem.
BTW: Bring a large briefcase.
