On truck number one I have a 171702 with a tune from Leon. Runs good, but I feel like it's lagging down low.
Truck number two is an identical twin to one and I decided to do some experiments on it. Flashed a 500hp stock Detroit file up from 430hp and installed a k31 turbo. It's a little lazier than the stock one I had, but it's also way bigger physically. I plan on getting a tune from Fernando at DCS and then I will have a full comparison data from my two trucks.
So to answer your question, if you are planning to stay with 470hp, get a 171701 or k31, 702 will be annoying to have with stock engine, there is not enough fuel to spool it up.
I highly suggest going to 550hp/1850tq, you are not going to hurt the engine, you won't lose mpg and it will be way easier to drive.
Also Leon told me that stock manifold is just fine, there is no need to change it for a full tilt unless yours is broken
Need turbo advice: Detroit 12.7 s60
