I went back to this same Flying J yesterday and once again, parked my 4-wheeler, grabbed a cup of coffee and watched. I see what you're talking about now, it's pretty much SOP to just pull up a little after you fuel up if you need anything from inside the ts. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
BTW, I looked at what the drivers did while fueling. Most, not all, spent time doing some type of quickee maintenance or cleaning while the tanks were filling.

I don't think too many drivers would have a problem answering questions. Your best bet is to sit down in the restaurant and wait for the inevitable driver conversation to happen and then chime in yourself and ask some questions. Just don't bug em' too much if they look like they've had a bad day lol.

Be prepared for a lot of BS but you'll occasionally get some gems out of drivers out there. Most drivers are decent people and the majority are always willing to help and every driver I've ever met rarely has a problem with sharing their opinions lol.

    Thanks RubberGears,
I'll look for a driver who looks like he/she might be at the ts for awhile. I did walk into the drivers' lounge but all the drivers were watching TV.

I wish there were more old school drivers like you around as well. I wish there more old school people around period. People that were raised in a time where there was discipline, manners and concern for others.

The reason I say to go and sit in the restaurant is that most drivers get hassled by panhandlers and the like outside and it's really annoying and they might think that's why you're approaching them.

Just get some coffee and you can sit there all day practically if you like. Drivers sometimes get into some deep conversations as well as shootin' the #### when they sit down to eat and drink coffee.

Flying J food ain't too bad IMO if you get hungry. I recommend the flat iron steak, if they still have it, and their chicken wings are really good. Small, but good and they don't have that nasty, gooey thick skin like most places.

I stay away from the buffet as a rule but that's just me.
