Just got back lastnight from orientation i did not make it through the first day of orientation and they put me on a bus home ( 24hour bus ride home from gary IN. got on bus in hammon IN. at 5:45pm on the 16th of Nov. and got off the bus in raleigh NC. at 6:20pm on the 17th )that was fun... O.K. I miss understood how they wanted me to do one part on the physical and could not do what i though they wanted me to. So i faild the whole physical for what was a misunderstanding.
So i asked the people at roehl what the reason for that particular part of the physical that pertained to my job and the would not answer me. The instructor told me to ask my recruiter why, and than my recruiter told that i needed to ask my instructor, and so on.
I just got my things and left without saying a word if they can't explain something so simple let alone try to work with me on it, I did not want to work for them anyway.

Wow Lastat, that really sucks.

I would just get right back out there and find a real company and not mention Roehl at all.
Do you think that you could pass a physical of the same caliber for another company?
What did Della have to say about it? -
Lastat,
Can you share what the requested feat was you were expected to perform and apparently mis-interpreted, or are you somehow bound by an oath of secrecy (or do you just not prefer to share). I'm not trying to judge, honestly. I'm just interested in how one "simple" thing could result in an immediate failure. -
Seriously what part of the overly intensive Roehl transport physical couldn't you pass I worked for them at one point in time and the only thing that I can remember that got rid of 4 guys instantly was the pop quiz. OMG there's
going to be a drug test LOL no seriously what was it?
just curious -
O.k. they wanted me to squat down to the ground with my feet shoulder width apart and touch the ground. I had to keep my knees pointing straight and keep my back straight as well. I could not touch the ground, and by no means was i the biggest person there, i'm just not flexable like that.
So they stoped the physical right then and would not let me complete it. The parts of the physcial that i did up to that point i had no problem doing.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
I can't even do that while keeping my back strait without tipping over
Im only 175 lb. Thats too bad thou that you didn't get hired over something as simple as that. They should have looked in to it alittle more thats just a bunch of BS, especially when you see some of these truckers that can barely touch the wheel. Hopefully you can find something soon thou. Best of luck -
Thanks i am putting in apps. with companys i said i would not work for when i was in school. I will take just about any job at this point, but i won't work for someone who treats me like a dog.

I'm now officially half-way through my classes at NCTDT school. We started to take our drives through town to attempt to qualify this past week. If we get two instructors to 'sign off' on our skills in the 9-speed and 10-speed transmissions, then we're incredibly close to getting our CDLs.
I'd passed my pre-trip inspection test with a 96 so that's good enough for the DMV test AND the schools test. And I'm doing fairly well on the written tests so far. I've only got one question wrong between the last three tests. And between all our logs that we've turned in so far, they have come back with ZERO errors on mine so I feel pretty good about them as well.davidw and kickin chicken Thank this. -
Your doning very well. Now that you are qualifing on 9 and 10 speed trans, stay focused and don't panic if you don't qualify on your first few tries. The nerves start to twitch the longer you go without qualifing. Did you get my phone# from Chris. Keep up the good work!
kickin chicken and serious_sam Thank this. -
yes, Chris gave me the business card. Thanks DW.
And yes, I must admit that me (along with about 37 other folks in the class) are beginning to stress about all the qualifying routes. But I'm taking Chris' advice and I'm not "trying to qualify", I'm just driving the truck. Meanwhile, qualified or not, I'm still getting a chance to drive EVERY SINGLE DAY now for 30-45 minutes. And I'm getting smoother and smoother in my shifting (especially my skip shifts).
BTW, what company did you tell me the other day that would be good to apply for? (the one where I might get a job working on the dock at first)
Thanks again David!! It feels nice to know that you and KC are rooting for me!!!
