Very true. I see MVR and PSP the same in protecting your license, as I use it as a shorthand for "Am I still able to get a job based on the citations I've received." Yes, it's not really accurate, but it is what is is.

Thanks for clarifying and I'll try to be better at making the distinction in the future.

Find a new boss. This clown doesn't even care about the future of his own company, much less you.

Any violations found on an inspection will go against both you and your company.

Sorry guys, a few of you miss something.

this is a flat bed, there are no clearance lights on the top of the addition for the bulkhead. I am looking at four of conestogas in the yard right now and not one of them have clearance lights at the top.

that said the op is concern with the front marker light not being side facing, which is a violation depending on the age of the trailer (don’t think he is using an old trailer) but not one issue that would cause an oos order or give him grief with his license.

The cap damage that the op posted can be a violation but he should just note it in his log and move on, again not a show stopper.

I’m not following having so much worry about where a light is or where you feel it should be. A quick search on Truckpaper shows most roll tops for sale have lighting like the one you’re not wanting to pull.

Didn't the advent of the retro reflective tape make the tape a substitute for some markers, especially in 'special' trailers? arn't some curtain sides allowed to rely on the tape too?

I'm all for doing the right thing and not risking tickets or points or whatever but dang...run the load already. At worst you might be missing one light. Lights up top are not required.

Bad brakes, bald tires, multiple non functioning lights sure, shut it down. But one light that I'm not even sure is required?? Just roll..

And even if by some far chance you do get stopped and issued a citation for that one missing light will that really have an effect on your future job prospects??

The flatbed is 48' 2012 MAC and the Wagon is 2012 Conestoga 2. My understanding is that the Conestoga 2 was offered with the front-top combination marker/clearance lights optional. But if you ordered that option then, on inspection, they had to work. The lease company was advised by the Conestoga manufacturer that it is better to cut the lights out rather than leave them inoperable. So that's what they did.
