Oh yes indeed. You ARE a commercial vehicle. And are a truck etc. Go on in.

Least you can do is fetch coffee and have a little small talk if necessary.

I got pulled in for a level one inspection bobtailing because the lady had a quota and hadn't filled it yet and didnt care...we had an interesting conversation. And basically if in doubt always pull in...most will just bypass you

I always do you don’t know the mood of those working the scales, and most times they just send you straight through, if you have one of the scale scammers in your truck, you will get the alert to by pass. Just plan on rolling through them.

I think the confusion lies in the term ''weigh station''.
AFAIK the correct term is ''inspection station''.
Way back when, there used to be weigh stations and some of the old sites might have the old sign still up.

I wouldn't bet on that. I'm not a lawyer, but I reckon that any vehicle that uses the highway more than incidentally would be required to burn clear (taxable) diesel.

I'm not an attorney either, but I am almost 100% sure that if you get caught on a public roadway with red fuel you are going to get a rather large fine and most likely get your vehicle impounded. Running red fuel is tax evasion. The states as well as the IRS will come after you. I saw a driver put in a police car in handcuffs in a Ky weight station because of this. This also applies to non-CMVs as well.

Don't many weigh stations have a sign that says all vehicles over 10,000 pounds must come in?
That would include any bobtail tractor.
