Just wanted to say hello. I am looking into buying my first truck and start doing a little trucking. I've hauled a little bit before for a friend and he will have runs for me to make for him in the future. Excited about buying an older 359 from him. I have lots of questions for you guys because I am definitely a rookie!

When you deside on witch truck you would like to buy make sure company that you'll be hauling for what there looking for ,Most I found want a truck less than 10 year's old more like 5 year's,Also what kind of hauling ?How long of a truck you need a wheel base 235 or longer,And where your hauling into if city stop's a shorter wheel base is good,As longer wheel bases have a limit on how well they turn in a small area. And most of all how much power you need. The bigger the motor the more feul you'll burn,But you'll get up hill's faster and this will cut cost some on ware.
Most of all New Guy keep record's of everything you do to your truck,This will make your truck more valueable at trade in time,Becuase someone else can see you took care of it and that means alot too a buyer.Baack Thanks this. -
NOW MY FRIEND : i would never try to discourage you from buying a truck i wouldnt have it any other way BUT a 359 might be a little old, they are good old trucks and they even look good i have one and i love the old truck , but they tend to need a lot of attention i have to work on mine all the time , always somthing going wrong with her.
now if your going to haul things that are not time sensitive or perishabel it will work providing you can maintane it yourself but they tend to need a lot of repairs. its a grand old truck but they are getting a little old even for me and all i buy is old trucks , they can be a pain in the but big time.
BUT at any rate good luck with her if you can find the time and money to keep her going it could be a good thing . ----southernpride
Baack Thanks this.
