Must be point of view, Because I did not take his post as negative. And I am a driver that was a driver / Management / Driver so go figure.

Yes, me too, I see managers comming from the ranks of the workers as a good thing, even though it may have been different for me.

I don't get the connection there.
Is that like someone sayin' that they "work in the office", when the work they do in said office is janitorial?
Or a lumper sayin' they "work for a Big truck truckin' company"?
Maybe they stayed at the holiday hotel last night?

    Sounds a tad misleading.

The answer you posted, and I've quoted here, was in response to Texas-Nana's question in her post posted today at 6:16pm, which, I think, brings up a good point and sheds some light on thought processes, and possibly waffles.

    WARNING -----
What I say I think and what I think I think
can be entirely different, depending on the time of day,
who one is conversing with, how management decides to
manipulate the employee to squeeze out more production, mood, and/or if y'all got any
    last night.

What's that they say a dispatcher is doin' when their mouth is movin'?
    I forget now.

As opposed to starting off as a manager.

NObody should be allowed to start off as a manager,
They wouldn't know enough about the support needed by those who depend on a manager's ability to support them.

Obviously whatever company that'd do that wouldn't hire anyone too smart,
or smart enough to be able to figure out that a manager is only as good as the staff/employees below(?) the manager.
    (Or is it "beneath" them?)

Well silly little me! How absurd that I found it insulting when he said

My objections to his statements are based upon his presumption to label others as "stupid" and to criticize Swift for hiring Driver Managers who have never been drivers when he edifies himself as Management within the Trucking Industry but has never been a driver.

The fact is that while yes there are DMs at Swift who were not drivers, the majority have been. So in fact his assumptions are false.

He is certainly entitled to his opinion but he is presenting himself as being a knowledgeable expert when in fact he is not. He chooses to make assumptions about other companies, he chooses to make assumptions and insults about other people when he himself is no more trained or experienced than those he insults. Frankly, I'd rather have a DM who has experience as a Dispatcher or DM with another company or even has dispatching experience in another industry than someone who worked in the warehouse. Oh yes.......the warehouse workers certainly know what I as a driver needs. (Sarcasm intended) He insults and demeans others but hides and hints at his own experience.

Those are my objections to him and his posts. The issue of should DMs have experience as drivers is very simple to answer: of course they should, just as trip planners should also.

think before you start going off about IQ testing, you should really not put your whole foot in your mouth....no wait....BOTH feet in your mouth, until you know how to spell. Granted those drivers might not have a broom of their own to sweep their trailer out, but i'm sure they know how different "their" is from "there" and "right from rite".

but tell me, how many trucks were waiting to get in or out in those 20 minutes? Something you failed to point out. My guess is that answer would be NONE.

I question the spelling , reading , and other abilities of many drivers out there . I've heard the stories from shippers . Should I add the shipper I deal with most uses PTL quite bit ?

Texas-Nana I'm new here but in the short time I have been here I have really enjoyed your posts. They are well written and well thought out , Kudos to you . I will be leaving here Monday for Orientation with Swift in Atlanta . Looking forward to it though from what I have read it is not the easiest job, the trucking indusry that is. Maybe once I get through orientation and training if I'm fortunate enough I will be lucky enough to meet y'all out on the road ... Till then please keep on posting.

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.
