Is 74-64 from Cleveland TN the best choice?
My trucker GPS wanted me to come from the east via Asheville. That looks crazy.
I'll be pulling a 53 conestoga. And need to go towards Nashville to reload.
Thanks for the help.
Best route to Hayesville NC from Ohio

So what route does not look crazy to you?
And, what is a 53 conestoga? -
I've read in the Appalachian there's lots of tight turns and grades. There are restrictions for weight and trailer length. I thought 74-64 looked good, but that doesn't mean it's available.
A 53 conestoga means: 53 foot long trailer, conestoga means rolling tarp flatbed or stepdeck.slow.rider Thanks this. -
75 to Cleveland is the way I would go. Took me 10 minutes just to find Hayesville in my atlas. F Asheville and cutting the back side of the mountain to save 40 miles.

I don't know how it is from Cleveland TN- Hayesville NC. But, I have taken the road from Asheville to Murphy(Which is US 74/Trk route 64). Your are on good road from Clyde NC all the way to Franklin NC. I can't tell you how it is from Franklin to Hayesville. Trucks I don't think are allowed on that stretch of 64. Truck 64 is actually US74. You may have to go to Murphy NC then go back east to Hayesville.
I wish someone would chime in on how the route from Ocoee,TN- going east on 74 is. -
I can now tell you! 74/64 from Cleveland to Hayesville is very decent. Good pavement. Considerable room with a mountain on the north side in spots. There is a very large area I saw a truck parked in 8 miles west of the state line. I didn't see a sign that overnight parking wasn't allowed. That was my first trip in such terrain and I'd do it again. Except watch out for deer. I smoked my first headed back west after delivery. Eastbound is easier because of the mountain.nikmirbre Thanks this. -
I'm sure it's a little late, but, I live near Cleveland and that's the route I took to Hayesville a while back. There are some tight curves near Ocoee, TN. Its good road though, as was mentioned, seems like there was a truck route for a bit. When you get in one of those valleys, it gets tight where the vacationers gather. Beautiful drive and costed a little time, but, it wasn't more than say an hour.
nikmirbre Thanks this.
