I reluctantly went for an oils change at the Berthoud/Loveland area location. At some point in my journey out west I ran a strap over and I got most of it out accept for some.
While changing my oil I ask him could he get the rest out cause I couldn’t cut it and don’t carry a torch. It was wrapped in the front axle ride against the bell housing. So he torched it out and I didn’t notice it( but I did today) that my pinion seal is leaking and as of tonight I’m having the hardest time finding a replacement seal. Kenworth was of no help( not there fault, I have a glider truck).
I should’ve known when I go to start my truck after oil change it cuts off because he failed to prime it. Then asks do I have any starting fluid!!!!

Here is where the little bit of strap was wrapped in B1F6C9A3-5C79-4576-8E20-8F5AE17E3ABC.jpeg 5452E9EA-29FB-463E-AB43-8016FDCF2372.jpeg here is where it’s leaking from...

I can’t read the plate on the axle to figure out which kind of axle to figure out what kind of seal to get. Can’t go by VIN number. Only thing to do is to take it out then go to parts shop.
I can’t do that out on the road so I’ll limp her home after delivery tomorrow. Freaking Loves....

So you came in for a oil change, and you asked a guy to torch loose a strap that you ran over and got wrapped up in your driveline and now you are throwing the poor mechanic under the bus because your pinion seal is leaking?

Ok, maybe im wrong. I assumed because the strap was stuck in the pinion seal and when he torched it, he overheated the seal or broke the seal.... I have no problem being corrected at all. Can you help explain this to me...

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Looks like a Spicer rear end to me? Should be a tag on the housing to tell you what it is.

I asked him to "get" it out..... yes I was gonna torch it myself but afraid of heating something that doesn't need heated to heating it for too long.....

The vibration the strap caused is most likely what caused the leak, however, you asked for a favor and proved once again that no good deed goes unpunished..
