You may be right. I can see a company with a product that doesn't cause them a problem if spilled or wrecked going to common carriers. But there's still plenty of companies that haul their own critical products that want only their trained drivers to do so. Those are the companies that have found by experience that it cost them alot more because the accident rate is higher and the handling of their product safely may not be as good as with their own drivers. The problem with these companies are the drivers stay with the company until they retire and openings are scarce and you really have to work at getting on with them. One field I know for sure that have the better companies are the petroleum companies. If you get on with BP, Chevron, Exxon, and a few more you're set for life. But they do not do OTR which to me was a big plus. Of course in some areas they even use common carriers or dedicated carriers it all depends on the cost and they haul the same product every day. Times are changing and we all know that companies look for the cheap way of doing business but the smarter ones know the cost in the end and stay with what works the best.RickG Thanks this.

I have heard nothing but good things about Watkins & Shepard. Plus, the main thing I look for in a company, they have a pet policy.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Ya know MM, I don't think I've heard anything bad about them. We can only hope they stay that way!
MADMAX683 Thanks this. -
That we can. It seems like all I read about on this post is how there used to be x number of good companies and over time z of said companies went bad, leaving us with y. (x-z=y) Y are there so few good companies to work for.

This poll supercedes the one I put out there 3 days ago. I got a lot of feedback saying there were not enough companies in the poll.
If you have questions or suggestions, I'm all ears!
BTW, you CAN vote for more than one carrier in this new poll!
UPDATE!!!!!
JCT is taking this poll, folks! Now, if you haven't already- - -VOTE!
The leaders - JCT and Watkins Shepard, at least from what I can find on line, aren't in the Top 100 companies.
What does that say?
