Just a Question regarding ONroutes going East Bound of Port Hope, ON. To Morrisburg, ON.

Is it me or has it become a Free for all parking lot for parked Trucks with trailers blocking 'Live' in bound lanes and New Drivers switching right in those live lanes?

I haven't been driving the 400 Highways for work in the past 5 years but recently picked up a Regional run from Toronto to Montreal. But when I leave our terminal at midnight and stop for a 30 minute break around 3 to 4 am at various ONroute's depending on the time (I even stopped after an hour of driving at the Port Hope one) theres a tsunami organizing chaos. Trucks & trailer parked in all direction most times making it difficult for drivers to manoeuvre around or between other parked trucks. Did I go through some kinda time warp?

5 years ago it wasn't even close to this bad.

I've been stopping at Napanee's 'Flying J' and this morning' for a small coffee and a quick snack. Its become b.s. with the juggernaut amalgamation of trucks. I figure at least 10 more Rest areas & 15 more truck stops are needed minimum.

It's very bad along that very specific corridor. I worry even more once e-logs hit what a crap show its gonna be.

I rarely ever stop at on routes. They are a crap show even during the day time. I remember I seen two drivers having a brawl in the parking lot at the Woodstock onroute. If I were you I'd stay away from them if you can.

Its seriously a big mess! Trucks are narrowly in the ditch parked on the shoulder even on the on/off ramps of these Onroutes. However, lately I've been seeing cops issuing drivers tickets.

I just saw this from a quick search
Ontario Newsroom | Salle de presse de l'Ontario Coming soon: Better ONroute truck stops - Truck News but I think its more than just Rest Areas needed. More Truck Stops with reasonable amount of parking is also essential. The Elog mandate is June 12th less than 3 months away so you're right about the exessive mess its going to cause once thats implement.

200 spots is more like 150 once the east Indians show up in the parking lot. Although it's a good start it's nowhere near enough.

It always disappoints me how terrible the parking situation is running Canada only. Although when I ran Toronto > Moncton, NB I always found parking.

More rest areas up north sounds great! And then you realize that a couple porta potties and 3 parking spots counts as a rest area.

Hopefully they're planning something a bit better than this.

That’s not up north. That’s parry sound. Try marathon. Terrace bay. Ignace. Atikokan. Marathon is my favorite. Great big building with bathrooms locked up for the better part of my 25 yrs running 17. Meanwhile there’s two porta potties with a foot of snow in them and six inches of crap on the seats.

You really think the govt cares about the north? Not a chance.

Even finding a place for a quick pee can be difficult. The snow ought turnarounds work but often one of the immigrant drivers hogs the whole spot. Some of these places are on an uphill climb! Even in Western Canada rest areas are non existent. Saskatchewan has a welcome center with no truck access. Alberta has some larger areas with 3rd world bathrooms. No lights. No water. Unreal.

Lol, what a joke of a visitor center.

Do they even plow that in winter?
