I’m not the one wearing tight undies on the beach! At least the women seem to wear some even thinner... guess that’s not a bad trade off

Generally speaking (lol) we as a society prefer short simple sound bite explainations. Cuz thinking is hard. And that's not your generation that was starting in my generation. But I was raised by over educated and informally socially deviant creatures so I notice things. Social media is only accelerating things. Thinking for ones self is hard anyway and the brainwashing is frankly terrifying and brilliant.

That I can't speak to. I've worked in a mathy job my whole working life till this and my kids did ok at school so maybe we missed it? Or they have enough native math skill that the new math thing didn't trip them up?
Honestly I wouldn't know it if I saw it.

RE: DIGITAL DATING AND OLDER PEOPLE BEING FUDDS

My wife and I are in our 21st year of marriage. We met online. Talked a lot through e-mail, and the instant messaging programs of the time. Phone conversations that led to some pretty ludicrous long distance charges. Exchanged pictures via...snail mail. I didn't meet her in person until I hopped a greyhound bus from Sacramento, CA to Joplin, MO. Left home and moved in with her. Married six months later.

I was 19 years old and she was 26.

Every single "older generation" person in my family was adamant about how big a mistake I was making. I was too young, hadn't lived enough life yet, was being impulsive, irresponsible. Doomed to fail and I'd be home and heartbroken in a few weeks, max.

Boy, did we prove them wrong.

(Editing in: Part of the problem they had is they figured that she was some mentally unstable person, because who the hell meets people online?)

Anyway, I find this young vs old conversation comical. It's the same song and dance that's been going on for a long time now which can be summarized like this:

"My generation is the best and yours sucks"

Without thought about who raised the generation that sucks.....

Get a fake tan and wear a budgie smuggler. You'd fit right in.

I would agree to a point. So let's step back and look at the bigger picture then. Men and woman have been dating since the dawn of time without the help of aps and such. Dating apps, I use the word dating loosely, has become more popular in the past few years. Why is that? Maybe because relationships as a whole have become alot more casual. Maybe because the younger generation has just about zero social skills? Who knows. But with all internet related things it makes it easy for a person to be whatever they want. you can lure a person in and make them belive whatever you want before you meet in person. It takes the first impression out of the equation. Which is great for the socially awkward who's majority of life is spent online and not face to face. It makes it easy to hide who you are. Here is another generational thing. Most folks don't settle down now until later in life. So you get the majority of girls/women now who want to have fun in their 20s and then expect some great guy to come along in his 30s to swoop her up, baggage and all. Who wants to be #30 on some chicks list? Nobody. Which leads us to another issue of promiscuity.
