I've always owned my own trucks but I assume if you don't bolt anything to the truck you can bring any appliance you want. I've heard some companys will work with you on the inverter. I think you'll have to take that on a company by company basis.
I'm looking to become a trucker and have several questions?

When I go solo do I have to look for a company that will allow microwaves, refrigerators, crockpots, toaster ovens ect. on their trucks or do all companies all these items on their trucks? Do I have to have a inverter to install them or would the company provide one. How does this process work. I will appreicate any advice here. Thank you to all drivers . . .

YES you would have to look for a Company that will allow an Inverter to operate these thing's. That can be a problem with a Company Truck a lot of them do not allow them.
I wish you well in your search! -
FYI Knight only allows a plug in inverter (120w or so) so you wouldn't be able to work for them

Do anyone know of some companies that allow higher rated inverters to operate microwaves and refrigerators.

I was thinking about driving for Stevens and was wondering whatkind of equipment do that allow you to have as a solo driver? Things like microwaves, refrigarators, satllite tv, ####pots, toasters ovens, ect. Can you run these things if you have an inverter intalled at their shop or is their a size limit to the inverters they allow. Any information you drivers have I would greatly appericate. As to life on the road would suck without these things. Thanks

All most all of the major companies will not allow an inverter that has to be installed
hooked up to the batteries. They do this because people hook them up themselves
and have burned down trucks by not knowing what they were doing.....
Some companies do allow them but they charge for their mechanic to install the
inverter...
I have one that is directly hooked to my batteries and one that plugs into the 12v
outlet. I run my fridge on the one hooked to the batteries as the one that plugs
into the cig lighter will not run it.. I'm not sure how large they make the ones that
plug into a cig lighter but I'm pretty sure they will NOT run a microwave..Bigowl Thanks this. -
I don't know if Stevens allows these items. My only thought is, say you have these items on your truck and break down in BFE and dispatch says we'll get you a ride to the yard for another truck, now you gotta load all that stuff onto someone's truck. Or you get fired at a drop lot location, now you have to carry this junk on board a Greyhound bus. I've never seen a Greyhound with a roof rack.

Can anyone tell me what kind of equipent does Stevens allow you to run on their tucks such as; microwaves, refriferators, toaster ovens, crockpots, satellite tv's, inverters, ect. Can you pay to have their mechanics hook the inverters up in their trucks or is their a size limit. I will appreciate any feed back on this. . .
