It's definitely needed, but I won't believe it til I see it.
And oh yeah, it would be nice to have trash cans & facilities at these yet to be built parking locations. -
While it sounds nice, and is needed it's also a government program.
What will happen is 10 new rest areas will get opened with parking for 10 trucks each. Serviced by an outhouse that gets cleaned once a month, and a single trash can that gets emptied once a quarter.
All for the low, low price of 755 million dollars.
But I guess since the government is going to waste money anyway, this is as good a waste as any, and better than most.Last edited: Apr 1, 2021

A bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives including Mike Bost (R-IL), Angie Craig (D-MN), John Garamendi (D-CA), Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Susan Wild (D-PA), and Pete Stauber (R-MN) have reintroduced H.R. 2187, the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act (formerly known as H.R. 6-10-4). The legislation would allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to expand truck parking capacity. The funds would be used to construct new truck parking facilities and convert existing weigh stations and rest areas into functional parking spaces.
Call your U.S. Representative today and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 2187. Tell them that finding a safe place to park is a daily struggle for truckers. Explain the hours that you have lost searching for safe and reliable parking locations and its impact on your bottom line.
You can find contact information for your Representative by clicking HERE and typing in your ZIP code. You can also call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202)-224-3121. The truck parking along I-70 in Missouri cracks me up, no facilities. 10 hours without a bathroom. I won't run my tires through there let alone walk on that pavement. And right next to the interstate, that's peaceful. Like most of Nebraskas rest areas as well. You're literally 40 feet from the right lane while trying to "rest".
Any new truck parking developed across the country MUST include driver facilities.Last edited: May 24, 2023
