Is it worth for us to buy this 2001 trailer with non steering lift axle? If this is not SPIF compliance and over 15 years old, then can it be operated under non compliance reduced weight limit? I assume the non steering lift axle cannot be deployed in Ontario, so does this has to removed or replaced with a self steering axle. Any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks $_59 (7).jpg $_59 (4).jpg $_59 (9).jpg

Non-SPIF Vehicles that are less than 15 years old may apply for a one-time permit to extend the grandfathering. Vehicles that are older than 15 years may operate as a non-SPIF vehicle – subject to lower weights. Vehicles may also be upgraded to become SPIF compliant.

A designated vehicle or designated vehicle combination may have axles in addition to those specified in the corresponding Schedule, but the additional axles must remain in the raised position.
