exactly my point. my DM knows i dont like rail yards. as well as the planners out of the terminal i'm at. Everyone i've run into who has stopped at the terminal i'm out of, just like going there. everyone is so eager to work with you. most others, you get the 'i'm the boss of you' attitude. My DM sees that i dont sit for more than half a day. I've got several avenues that are open to me right now. one is going lease, another is going local somewhere in indiana, another is just being a yard dog at a wal-mart DC. But whatever i choose will be done with my eyes wide open. again, others experiences wont be exactly like mine. maybe they liked to sit, and turn down 2 for ever 3 loads they got preplanned on them. No wonder why they got starved out. the couple i referred to do that, but they get 6000+mi a week.
yeah, the loads i'm tracking making a 'what would i make' paycheck running as a L/O, i'm making $700-800/wk...but i'm sure there are other drivers leasing/owning making less. as i am sure there are others making ALOT more. but guess what....we're in different boats. i like driving. its not in my blood or anything, but i'll do whatever i need to make/earn a living for myself. I could always go back to working at a pilot, but then again, i'd rather make more than $8 an hour. unless i get uber low miles for a week....like 2000 or less, i'll make more leasing than i will as a co driver. and as far as the maintence account....you've gotta look at that like money already spent. if you start dipping into it to buy yourself a 100" TV or a used 5 year old car, then you deserve what you get. but like i've said, i've got 8 weeks to bank a couple thousand to jumpstart accounts for truck payments and maintenance.
but please answer a question....just how much interest would a driver get getting a truck thru a bank?

The couple I was talking about, wasn't turning down load. From what I have heard about this particular Fm, he was a pain to work with, and not just with this one couple, put others as well.. I'm not trying to come down hard on you, just trying to point out, like others have said. The pit falls of leasing a truck from the company your driving for..The Challenger Thanks this. -
Even Helen Keller could see this is a bad idea!

That computer you're using...did you lease-to-own it through Aaron's or Rent-A-Center?
How about your washer and dryer?
LCD TV?
No, most likely not.
Why?
Because it's a ripoff...EZ payments up the ying-yang until you end up paying double for the stuff.
So if it's a bad idea to lease-purchase home appliances...why in hell is it a GOOD idea to lease-purchase a tractor trailer? -
again, you're comparing apples to oranges (although i get your point). Most people have the funds available to go into best buy, drop $1000 on a wash/dryer. most people who want that 1000" TV have the money to go in and just buy it outright. How many legit O/Os had the money to go into a dealership/bank and drop $100-large on the table and drive out with a new truck? I sure as heck dont have $100k laying around....do you? And again, how much interest are you going to pay for a NEW truck financed thru a bank? -
I'm not trying to justify leasing or not. (Though i am sure you all think i am) But i think i'm going about it the right way (as much as i can) by banking a couple grand for maintence and weeks i MIGHT end up with super low miles. And as for the rest i'd make in the 8 weeks free of truck payments, i could get totally debt free....less the truck. -
20% down is a good rule of thumb.
And why buy new?
Plenty of quality late-model rigs on the lots that can be had for under $40k.
Second, there's a difference between buying a truck on credit vs lease-purchase.
Same as buying a computer, washing machine, TV on credit vs. Rent-A-Center.
If you notice, the big sell with these fleece-purchase scams is that you don't need good credit.
Just like Aaron's and Rent-A-Center
Good credit, too.
Car and house paid off.

I'm curious...
How much is the weekly payment (including insurance, qualcomm/drivertech fees, maintenance account/escrow, prepass/ezpass, fuel card usage fees...etc) for a Swift L/O? How much is the baloon payment at the end?otherhalftw Thanks this. -
