I have come across a used 1962 Mississippi 10250 gal 250 psi trailer. That is in need of total makeover. Paint, tires, wiring, etc, etc. My question is it worth redoing. I would eventually put it on the road. Is it worth the time, effort to basically start over. Tank still has data plate. I know some of those years the trailers where pretty short in length under 40ft. Your thoughts. Thanks

This is a 1967 that a friend of mine rebuilt in his shop last year. He’s also done some late 70’s and early 80’s ones. He buys used air ride slider assemblies from wrecked trailers and rebuilds these into air ride trailers. New lights, new valves, rebuild the pump, get current tests done and you basically have a trailer that’s worth we’ll over double of what you paid for it.

I thought after so many years you had to do the metal thickness test of tank itself? if so pay to have it done before you buy it and rebuild it?

Is there any pitting, corrosion, broken welds, or cracks?
Are the vapor and spray fill pipes securely mounted and not leaking?
Are all the baffle bolts tight and are the mounting tab welds unbroken?91B20H8, haz-matguru, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this. -
slightly similar, Cyrogenic trailers were baffled and slop, along with poor vacuum was a sign that it was time for a rebuild, again. Interior repairs and testing and new paint and back to work. Every bucket box was re-plumbed and usually laid out differently so you had to actually follow the pipes around before opening anything to make sure it was the right valve...

Be sure to put fans on all open caps before you go down into tank to ck. for rust from inside if you are going to look at it before you pay the inspector to come out!!

These trailers still have value. It's the reason we keep refurbishing 40 year old units.
Heavier but more solidly built imho.haz-matguru and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
