I was on i40E near Moriarty, NM. Speed is 75 mph. This straight truck driver in the left lane ahead of me suddenly chose to make a U-turn into i40W. He ignored my honks. And a Dodge Mini van with Texas plates stayed besides me in the right lane.
I don't know how I was able to bring my truck from 70 mph to almost 5 mph. I'm lucky there was no one behind me.
Just be extra careful in Texas and Albuquerque.
since when did the shoulder become a rest area?

I saw a wreck being cleaned up this morning that appeared to involve shoulder parker's...
At approx. mm27 I-75 N in OH, just before the rest area. It appeared that someone ran into the rear of one of the 20 odd trucks parked on the shoulder before the rest area proper. From what I could see as I was southbound, it looked to me that one truck rear ended the line of parked trucks. There was for sure one 53' van or reefer sitting across at least 2 travel lanes. I couldnt see the tractor, but I suspect it was jack-knifed to the blind side where I couldnt see it. It was all very difficult to see between the darkness, rain, and very bright flashing lights.LoSt_AgAiN and bzinger Thank this. -

Exactly why I get in the Monfort lane passing a truck on the berm. I’ve had them pull out into the slow lane from a dead stop....!!Farmtractor9900, bigkev1115, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
In Arkansas a few years and miles out, I "noticed" a new sign at the East Bound Coop, I-30:
NO PARKING ON SHOULDERS, MEDIANS OR RAMPS.
I still wonder HOW one would "park" on/in the MEDIAN considering the errant vehicular controlling CABLES??
Used To Be, WE cud park on Off/On Ramps in AR., as well MANY States, till one morning in possibly '15, I awoke and saw a Full Grown Bear visiting a couple trucks behind me. I had parked on the next OFF ramp just passed a FULL Rest Area, just east of Forrest City.
I "got it together" and split that scene.

In 2013, I parked on the get on ramp of exit 35, WB I-40, TN., after carefully negotiating the cramped pathetic excuse of a Truck Stop at that exit. There were other Trucks parked on both sides of the big road, and of course there was a sign or 2 denoting NO PARKING.
It had been a L-O-N-G- Day which started in Greensboro, NC, getting loaded (the trailer, not I).
The GOOD THING the Genius Trooper did was put 17:30, 12 hrs out, so that is what the Judges Assistant needed to toss the ticket.
1730 I was at a Coca-Cola location in Memphis awaiting my invitation to load. -
