That’s good you’re staying busy. St. Louis should be a treat tomorrow. I lived there all life and did LTL around the city until I moved up to KC about 4 years ago.
I was wondering about the height of your truck, I didn’t know if it’s be a hindrance or not. Some places are pretty low. Like at the haydite mine in New Market MO I’ve seen a few Bones trucks have to back under the belt because they are too tall to pull thru it.
I can’t say as I blame you getting your electrical work done. That’s one thing I lead to the professionals. I never get anything hooked back up correctly.
to all end dump haulers...

@motocross25 pensacola is a great little town, lots of things to take in simply by walking. Make the trek in to mobile and visit the USS Alabama display, there’s an old navy destroyer and submarine there that are open to the public and an absolute blast, after you’re done with that go to Felix’s fish camp for lunch or dinner, literally right down the road, if you don’t go there you’re seriously missing out, awesome food and even better service. I would also say make the trek down to orange beach/gulf shores alabama, you won’t be disappointed, on the way over hit up Flora-bama, pretty bad A”” dive bar with a history of music behind it. It’s a fun trip, I’ll emphasize it again though, hit up Felix’s and the ship tour in mobile, makes for a really good day.

Finally made it back in from vacation, it was quite the exhausting trip. Traffic was horrendous yesterday and made me realize the older I get the less I like road trips, problem is, I'm a very anxious flyer, literally sick to my stomach at the thought so road trips are the method of travel. Either way I'll be back at it tomorrow, heading south to load for the panhandle. @motocross25 glad I could come through on those suggestions, I don't think you'll be disappointed, keep posted on here when you're in the area, I'm there pretty often and would like to say hello if you're in the area.

Well today is starting off as a great day. Ended up dropping my thankfully empty trailer after the spring on my locking jaws broke due to rusting through. At least i think its the spring.
-
Yup it was deffo the 5th wheel. They pulled it open and one of the pins had bound up. So when i whacked it with the trailer to hook up everything went sideways from there. Ended up with a partial rebuild and thank god minimal damage. $800 plus $250 for the tow. Also out for the hose because it got streched so likely another $250 but it could have been WAY worse.
Didnt break anything on the trailer, and only had a few bad airlines and pigtail as well as a dent in my rear light plate. So yea considering it could have failed on the highway while loaded.....Ill take this as good luck and an excuse to buy new britches.

Hay this is owner operator 101 for ya, #### like this happens. Ah well i choose to see this as "pay to win" good luck. Not going to lie i took a bite out of my seat at pucker factor 10 when that trailer came off. I even tug tested it and looked at the locking bar before i took off. At least the cop who showed up was an ex trucker and when i showed him the locking jaw parts he just winced and decided to NOT ticket me. Now if i can avoid getting on bonehead truckers.....ill be mighty happy.
Ah well, on the flip side next time i go to jackson where i got this trailer i am going to find out who welded the new landing gear on my truck and buy them a case of beer. I am also going to give them a hundred bucks for how well they welded the legs on this trailer, because they did not budge when it hit the ground and slid. No bends, dents nothing. Guy deserves a raise.motocross25 and RockinChair Thank this. -
What’s goin on everyone? It’s busy in KC. The weather is holding out so far and we’ve just been slamming rock and sand into concrete plants. Worked the yard today and unloaded a granite train in one of the class B dump trucks. What’s everyone else doin? @Trashtrucker1707 hope you had a good vacation.
@Arctic_fox where are you in your travels?4mer trucker Thanks this. -
Question for you end dump guys. I'm still in the research phase of purchasing my own end dump. I've heard about a shipper in my area that wants to move cotton seed on one. Any of you have experience with that? Can you haul enough cotton seed in a 39×102×60 to weigh out to 80k?
