Precisely why I want to get into trucking.

    I don't hate people. I'm just a bit gruff & come off a bit harsh & cold. That, & I like driving.

You can do it. Considering all the Drivers that are ex convicts, even former addicts. There’s always a warm seat for every ###. No disrespect intended. Just an old saying. Good thing about Trucking is pay parity for all. Man or woman, same pay, unlike some fields, unfortunately.

If you’re worried about masks I wouldn’t get into trucking. I don’t know a single person at my company who would ever wear one. Or anyone I deal with.

True. If she does get a trucking job same goes for it. When pulled over by the law, just answer their questions, don't elaborate.

A friend of mine works for a company that installs underground fuel tanks.
When they get a resume the FIRST thing they do is Google that persons name.
If your social media shows lots of party and drinking pics or lots of rants or lots of rude or insulting postings, they just toss it right into the trash.
It’s not just political rants. If you spend a lot of Calories ranting about anything, or it looks like you are easily offended etc , they figure , and rightly so, that you will be doing the same thing in their workplace or job site.

make sure your Face space and Twitter and insta and tok tic and all the others are pictures of puppies and pics of you surfing or hiking or picking up trash at the park or whatever. Something that not one single person would be the least bit offended about or disagree with.

and ditch the picture on here, use a pic of a truck or a sunset or something that can’t be reverse image Google searched and turn up some drunken party pics on someone else’s Facebook page from seven years ago.

and use a different user name for each platform.
Don’t use the same name on Reddit that you use on Twitter etc.
Make all the user names and avatar pictures different on each forum.

I wouldn’t worry about the past drug tests if they were not for trucking companies

and if anyone asks if you’ve ever failed one . Just say “no”
Your driving history will be a concern
But unless you have more than two moving violations or accidents in the past three years, you’re good.

that’s pretty standard everywhere you drive a company vehicle even if it’s not a big truck.
The place I work has a lot of pickups and cars and if you have more than two violations in three years, you can’t drive the company vehicle and you can’t drive your personal vehicle while you’re own the clock either, traveling to a job site or something unless you work in the Corp office and never go to job sites.

most CDL classes at community colleges are filled with recently released felons and former and current drug users, immigrants who can’t speak English, etc.

the class’s at most states vo tech or community colleges are good.
My state is only $1,600 and it’s usually free if you qualify for it.

It’s a 13 week 235 hour class with a minimum of 800 miles on the toad.

First two weeks are classroom, hours of service rules and regs.
Next few weeks are backing up.
Next few weeks are road driving .

there’s several female drivers on here and you could message them and see if they are willing to chat, if you want their perspective.
