He said diff lock and ECAS, which would seem to correspond with the following...

Yep. I went back and read his post again and he said differential lock, not power divider. My bad. I would hate to be running one of those is conditions like that and from what he said he had just left Laramie going up Sherman to boot.

Yep, another thing that doesn't work on this truck - can not do a manual override. The owner of the truck said that gonna fix that, bit didn't still.
Also this truck has a push knob to engage a wheel lock/traction differential which didn't work while I was moving. It let me engage it when I was stopped and pop out automatically when I was moving over 25mph going down the hill.

If it is a differential/axle lock then they disengage generally in the 25-35 mph range (can be adjusted in truck's programming).

A power divider can be used at pretty much any speed, but obviously doesn't apply in your case if you only have one drive axle.

Neither one should be engaged when the wheels are slipping and some trucks won't engage the axle lock unless the truck is stopped or below 5 mph.

Not the kind of configuration I would have on a truck for going over the hills in the west.

So they designed a truck that gives a driver no choice but to park on slick roads. Insightful.

Given the quality of some drivers*, that may not be a bad option. ;)

LOL I hope I am not that kind of a driver, but definitely felt like one when everybody were passing me that day.

So to summarize all that - I think it should be the suspension issue (ECAS). I might not have the best tires out there, but they still new and with excellent thread. I don't think all the trucks that passed me had brand name tires on them.
Will work with the owner to have that fixed. I don't really feel safe driving that kind of a vehicle.

Well maybe you were hitting ice on the road?

I know the area pretty well and been stuck out there once because of ice.

if this is the case, then maybe not driving it was a good choice.
