This may lean a little toward political, but here goes. Aint it amazing that in this supposedly economic downturn, trucking companies are hiring inexperienced drivers. My feeling is,there aint no economic downturn,it is something the three major networks started whining about, and now most everyone believes it.The reason they started the rumor was because they didnt like the past administration. But hey according to them the present administration,is really screwing up big time.If things are so bad,why is it,that it is darn near impossible to go to a restaurant on a Friday or Saturday evening and not have to stand in line, and I still see these big overgrown SUVs running down the road, passing everything in sight except the gas stations.I am just old enough to remember WW2,and times were hard then. But back then people were walking to work,if they were lucky enough to have a job.Gass was rationed top 5 gal.per week, sugar, shoes, and a lot of neccesities were rationed.I really dont think the younger generation has any idea, what hard times are.A local car dealer here shut down one of his used car lots, reason being hard times,he has no idea what hard times are.

:biggrin_25519:Boy ,finally someone who knows what they are talking about! My father served in WWII and growing up in the great depression he knew what hard times really were. I remember him telling me how you could buy a 50 lb. bag of potatoes for .25. I said "Dad, what was so hard about that?" He said,"The problem was finding the .25." There wasn't unemployment insurance, food stamps, free lunches for your kids in school, credit cards. If you didn't have a job, you went hungry. I think there are more jobs available than people think. For example, I read an article online that says people who took severence pay were using the money to maintain their lifestyle. One gentleman said he would be out of savings and his severence money in a few more months. He was offered three different jobs this year but turned them down because the jobs didn't pay the same as his old job and he didn't want to change his lifestyle. Give me a break!! Sounds awfully arrogant to me. I guess the rest of us will just have to muddle on through! God forbid anyone gives our president a chance to get us out of the mess our former President spent eight years getting us into. Just give it time.
