is it advisable to take Light loads i70 versus heavy loads take i80 to get to vegas from Illinois? anyone can advise on this?

It's supposed to be windy in Wyoming and in the Texas Panhandle region over the next few days which prevents an easy bypass using US-54 and I-40. Maybe drive to Nebraska then check road conditions before deciding to stay on I-80 or take I-76 down to I-70. You might just have to end up sitting a little until it's safe to proceed on either route.

When weather permits, yes. At least in my book. It's shorter and can be turned in the same time @80k, so it's quicker with lighter load. Less wind, and less idiocy. Although the latter has been changing rapidly the last couple years, way too many inexperienced guys up in the high country now.
