Latest. They couldn't get the last piece detached, so I skated with a light load. Said I'd never haul crane parts, because I don't want to wait for assembly. Well this was heading back to their yard, so I figured easy money.

My dumb ### didn't think about DISassembly... So yeah, never again.

 

I've never had issues with crane parts. Load and unload in less than an hour each end. I've found crane riggers to be very respectful of my time and equipment. Maybe my unlucky day is coming though.

 

Everyone on that site was cool AF. Even the cops. Problem was the bottom part of the crane was in 4' of mud for months, and the nuts welded themselves to the studs. They fought it for hours. Tried to torch them. Finally gave up and cut me loose.

Next time you are at the house or have access to a motor saw - take a extra piece of dunnage or one thats getting rough around the edges and cut it up in about 8 inch blocks.. You can use those blocks to put underneath the chain on that bundle up front on the passenger side that u have the x chain hooked to.. Those blocks will make it so you will have more downpressure onto that piece itself rather than just relying on x chains or side pressure to keep together... it can be a real pain sometimes when the load is different levels side to side and securement is not touching it.... heres an example of what i mean by using the blocks.




I carry 5 or 6 of them and honestly i think they are the handiest tool in my equipment box - really just helps things get secured when strap or chain is not touching it.

I saw so many Blue Pete's from dsv lately and I wondered if one of them wasn't you...

Obviously we tread in your territory alot.

Couple days ago saw like 5 of y'all up on the 90 with blue pete's. I ran over to Butte to transload that excavator, since I'm in the process of getting my passport updated and can't go to Canada till I do.

 

Wow, I don't envy that load. Good on you bro.

 

If the load is going to be overhead crane unloaded then the spacer blocking is the best way to keep your load tight while leaving room for the crane slings to pick each package off the trailer.

 

I've been thinking of you the last two days. Passed a DSV headed "east" on 84 yesterday that I thought could have been you. But my CB was acting up. Then today I went over Snow Call Me. Which of course can't be done w/o thinking of the Blue Bird.
