I'm looking for a few shortcuts curious what anyone thinks.
So I'm looking to see if there's any way to cut back from Breinigsville or Kutztown to pick up route 422 say either from Oaks or Trooper to head down to 76.
I know that route 100 is restricted I think below Macungie and that seems like a long way around.
I think there is some way to pick up Gravel Pike which I think is Route 73 and maybe 663 or 29 comes in somewhere there and I think there is a way that will work you down to Oaks or Trooper but I'm not sure if there are any truck restrictions or the best route.
Obviously the stinking Turnpike has to be avoided!
The second short cut I'm curious about is from Coopersburg to Mt Holly .
I have gone down 309 to 463 to 611 to the turnpike into New Jersey which seems like a pretty good way but you do have to go 2 exits on the turnpike.
I have also gone 313 to 611 to Street Road to Route 1 to 63 to 95 to 413. That's actually not a bad way at night but Street Road has a lot of lights to go through there during the day.
I can't remember the route but there was a way that one of those roads before the turnpike on 611 you turn left and somehow it takes you back I think like to Red Lion Road or Veree rd and it takes you back to the boulevard close to Woodhaven Road. It has been so many years since I've traveled back there I really don't remember how I went or if it was better or worse than any other route.
So any ideas let me know.

Sounds like you already know the area pretty good Lol. I don't make it down that way much

I hate the pa pikes with a passion but if it's easier and the load has a good rate I'll take the the easy way Lol

But down south 309 and the turnpike run right next to one another. 422 runs the same direction but it's kind of on the other side further.
I do sometimes jump on if it's just an exit or two and I'm going home from a long week or something like that but I really try to avoid that stinking Turnpike.
And probably mostly because of where I live I could take the turnpike a lot. And I can only imagine after a year how much money I really would have blown on the it.
If I did I bet it would be a small fortune. And then that would piss me off...NavigatorWife, Rideandrepair and 4mer trucker Thank this. -

My Philly shortcut..
Spring of 1980 was pulling flatbed but work was slow so had a dry van .
Had a load of bagged oats on headed to a horse track n of Philadelphia. Got empty and wanted to head to the truck stop (Union 76 maybe) south of town, right by veterans stadium, I'd been there before but only off the big road.
Looking at my map it appeared 611 ran thru town and would get me there. Didn't have any experience for inner city Philadelphia but how bad could it be right.
As I run south on 611 it becomes Broad street and Is quite congested, and the road is getting smaller..lol
What I didn't realize was the president was visiting town and they had strung banners across the road near the center of town and city hall, wtf did I know right.
As I negotiated south I would see cops and military with rifles on billboards and rail cars and wondered what was up. So I just kept rolling.
As I did unbeknownst to me for a bit that my trailer was hitting these banners that were hung across the road pulling them down from one side or the other. It was one of those moments where you just panic and think ..keep on going.
Finally made it to the truckstop in south Philly, got parked and breathed a sigh of relief. Then went and pulled a couple banners off my truck and trashed the evidence.
