Yes, when dealing with a bad employer, you have some valid points lol
I would not want to work in an environment like you described, and would either move on, or just drive according to my need for rest, and if they don't like it they can pound sand.
But if pausing your clock creates a bad situation for you, then I would certainly be careful to log in to "check on the truck" every hour or so, and use the rules to your advantage.
But it's not until you fully understand the rules that you can play them like that!
And there are times when I am on a crappy schedule, and I don't want the pause, and so I just don't get it!
But most of the time I love the pause, and so being able to plan for it and use it is very valuable.

Eh guess the next place I go will set their own policy. Old man is official done and I figure the kids will sell it off before long. I don’t intend to stick around for the down hill slide.
