I have no pictures but in the early 90s I had a Ford LTL 9000 with the 36 inch flat top sleeper.
I was living in the truck at the time, gave up renting a single wide in the trailer park since I was gone all the time.
biggest thing I wanted was a shower, and toilet.
To make a stand up shower in a flat top sleeper I found a 16x16 laundry sink that was about 12 or 14 deep and cut out the floor of the sleeper and dropped it right between the frame rails and just above the drive shaft.
then I made a shower curtain that I could raise up and Velcro to the ceiling. Using conduit I bent to be like a square hula hoop.
I found some 8 gallon tanks that just fit on each side under the sleeper and above the fuel tanks.
Also found a gas tank for a boat that was long and thin that just fit supported on the cross supports between the fuel tanks below the drive shaft to catch the water.
I put a heater core in one of the 8 gallon tanks and insulated it, and used a 12 volt pump on each tank and two valves to adjust the water flow.
had the chemical toilet under the bunk behind the passenger seat.
Cut the legs off the passenger seat so I could fit the newly invented “koolatron” 12 volt electric cooler under it.
had a new three piece mattress made by an upholstery shop and had them cover it in vinyl.
so you’d flip the mattress sections on the side behind the drivers seat, hinge up the plywood shelf , step down into the laundry sink and take a nice hot shower.
Use the chemical toilet and hit the road.
I did this to save time , I could take a shower while waiting at a loading dock, or just every morning to help wake me up and start my day.
if you don’t team drive you could turn the bed front to back , figure a way to have your feet on the passenger seat and have plenty of room for a shower or whatever in the rest of the 72 Inch stand up sleepers that every truck has now.RubyEagle, Rideandrepair, Farmerbob1 and 2 others Thank this. -
